The Super Metroid run was light years beyond the 0 star.

To be perfectly honest, I was surprised that super mario bros was even nominated for best nes TAS... the fact that it got the most votes just baffles me.
It chopped a significant amount of time off of a run that was believed to be 'perfect'. Huge accomplishment and wtf factor that came out of nowhere. The run itself wasn't spectacular, but it meant a lot if you were familiar with the history of attempts at creating the perfect SMB TAS. Other runs could best it with style or entertainment, but nothing on NES was such an incredible surprise.
Kirby said so, so it must be true. ( >'.')>

I agree with Baxter People are voting based on how great of an accomplishment the movie is, not how great of a TAS the movie is. For this I voted for the Super Metroid run but it is actually a great TAS, not just some new milestone that surprised people. Also I'm disappointed the Super Mario World Small Only run isn't here but there's always 2008 :P

Your not judging good TASes against good TASes there was already earlier sub catagory voting to determine that; you're judging great TASes against great TASes. Then again its not clear what you mean when you use the term great in the context of your statement.

Hate voting on polls like this with strong nominees. The choice was between Nitsujas Sonic 3 run and JXQ's Super Metroid run. I could write a lot of why I in the end picked Nitsujas run but lets just say that instead of giving myself a headache of which one to chose, I simply voted on, in my opinion, the greatest and the most entertaining run of this site, Nitsujas Sonic 3 run, despite it didnt contain much new from when it was submitted in 2006. The amount of entertainment combined with speed in his run is just ridiculous :) mad props goes to the other nominees and especially to JXQ's run which is ranked as the second greatest run in my list.

The no star was probably the most anticipated run on the market but as for entertainment, JXQ's 100% SM run, with the inputs, was the best (imo). I'm watching it right now, while eating popcorn :D

Im going with 0 star run because seeing the 1 star run in july then the 0 star run in augest made me want to start TASing.

I've watched all four of these again (not including NES Super Zzzzz Bros.) and I think that this was an excellent list. I don't think more nominees would have helped the process; in fact, I think the large amount of nominees in some categories harmed the voting. I liked my Super Metroid a lot, though I greatly prefer the no-cutscenes AVI, which has spoiled my attention span even farther than TASing already has. Super Mario 64 was very good as well; not so much for the 0-starness, but the stylistic choices made were very nice. Sonic 3 has always been a little too glitchy for my taste, but it's still a very good watch. However, I'm voting for Metroid Zero Mission. There's so much available in what the main character can do that perfecting those abilities is very fun to watch, and the style and movement was excellent throughout. It also reminded me of how good of a TAS that Super Metroid: Redesign would make, and I'm looking forward to that. (I'm sorry if it's weird that I didn't vote for my own movie)

I voted for super mario 0 star, just because I thought it was a shoe-in for winning. I didn't really think too hard about my vote. Honestly, I think the Super Mario 64 1-star TAS is more deserving of this honor. And if I were to re-vote, I would change my vote to Super Metroid, because I like giving the underdog a chance. However, if voting was between Super Metroid and the Super Maroi 64 1-star TAS, the latter would win by a long shot.

I think having 2nd/3rd places entries in the list is a bad idea, since they have no chance of winning, the best they can do is finish second or third overall which is unlikely.
