1. Read the FAQ. 2. Try to make a TAS of (part of) a game you're familiar with. 3. Post to get feedback and advice.

Before starting the TAS, get to know the emulator you're using. Find out how frame advance and savestates work. It might be a good idea to learn a thing or two about watching RAM addresses. Plan your run well. Know exactly what route you're going to use, and what items you're gonna pick up. Fool around with game before you start TASing it, looking for tricks and glitches. Make sure you've played through the game at least once before attempting to TAS it.

Try out a simple game for your first TAS, like a obscure Game Boy Game, or else you will flop on your face and be too scared to keep on working on it. And remember, rerecords are your friends!
Renting this space for rent. Trying to fix image on this site. Please cut slack. As of April 6th, 2012: After a long absence, here we go again?

:( DON'T run obscure gameboy games. I recommend you run a well-known game. I made a huge mistake running Tom and Jerry for my first video.

Why was it a mistake? Lack of positive reception?
I'm just some random guy. Don't let my words get you riled - I have my opinions but they're only mine.

Bezman: If fewer people know about the game, you're likely to get less feedback. Thus, it may take you longer to learn how to be picky about the quality of your work. At least, that's what I think Chamale meant.
Current Projects: TAS: Wizards & Warriors III.
