Oh. When the party is devided in three groups after beating Ultross, don't forget to unequip party members as other groups can equip some of those stuff. Also you could sell the stuff if you need money for some reason.

For the next part I have a big dilemma. I can get the runningshoes now but it takes 45 seconds. Vargas and Ultros will be easier and faster with this relic but I doubt that I'll save the whole 45 seconds.
Running shoes will probably benefit you in many more boss battles than just those two.. It depends, of course, on who you put the shoes on and how many battles they're in... but I think that ultimately the shoes will "pay for themselves", so I'd suggest getting'em.
If I don't get them now, I can get them at the Locke scenario for five seconds. I'm getting them for sure before Sabin's scenario (since I wont have massive multitarget attack). I will make test to see how much time is saved in Vargas and Ultros battles (the only two bosses before Locke scenario.)

Looking good so far. I'm guessing when you get to the Second World you're going to skip everything once you get the airship that can fly above the clouds, I can't remember from seeing the topic before. Are you going to be getting the shoes that make you faster when not in battle? I can't quite remember what they're called.

You mean sprint shoes? I think he will since that would cut time ALOT. :)

Getting sprint shoes is the first thing I do in South Figaro.

Good, I'd hate to see a speed run with speeds of walking like that! I thought you would but just wanted to make sure.

Has anyone really played through this game without sprint shoes? Who is patient enough?

Bah, the last time I played it on an emulator I leaned on the skip frame key the entire time outside of battles.

Oh. Well.. I mostly play it on the console, so I ment a legitimate run.

The only one that's a legitimate copy in the UK is the psx one, which has the run key built into the system (which I hate mind you). When you get the sprint shoes you zoom around!

Heh, will we be seeing your new avatar in the run? Any update anyway?

Yes you will see something similar to my avatar in the run. Right now I'm thinking about WOR. I'm thinking about skipping Terra if I take time to learn Vanish and Doom for Mog. I need this spell combo to fight Goddess or Doom quickly. Learning these spells need 84 Magic Points (Which is about 12 fight south of Miranda). If I get Fenrir (which is part of the Terra subquest), I need only 54 Magic Points (switching Doom for X-Zone). Skipping Terra will also make the final battle a bit harder.

How about using Vanish/Dance instead? Dusk Requiem and Love Sonata randomly cast Snare, which is an instant death attack.

Didn't think that combo was possible SprintGod. Also.. Which makes it faster? To use doom/x-zone/dance? Feels like the dance should be slower somehow. Also.. If you need to level up your magic you can do that by beating itangir's at the triangle island I beleive.

Well dance is a few frames longer than x-zone/doom, but I wouldn't think enough be a net loss when taken the time to learn Dusk Requiem/Love Sonata compaired to learning Doom or X-Zone. I'd think beating up on Cactars would be the easiest way to level up magic. That's 10 magic points and all it takes is one Sabin pummel.

Hmm... Doesn't cactars repell with 10000-needles or something like that? Takes 1000HP if I remember correctly. And I don't recon you would have that much HP at that point, since this will be a low-level run I presume?

I don't think it would if you defeated it in one blow, but then again some monsters do retaliate as they die. EDIT: Personally, I'd like to see the terra-sidequest but of course it's up to whether it saves time or not in the end. As I say in this situation, when you can't decide between two paths, take a third. But, I guess this doesn't apply, so try both if your patient enough, and see which is faster, that's what i've been taught but it could be horrifying as you'd need to do the end sequence twice. EDIT 2: Any more progress that can be shown to the public? I'm really looking forward to this run and hopefully can then delete the run i've got on zsnes which you can't save state and reload in movie (at least the version it has to be played in).

Some do, but Cactrots don't. I remember the 1000 needles attack being quite rare actually.

...is nonexistent. He already learned Dusk Reqiuem by defeating Marshal with Mog's party. Cactrot's attack script: 'Bundling up something'; Blow Fish; 'Bundling up something'; Blow Fish; 'Bundling up something'; Blow Fish; 'Work load up 10 times!'; Blow Fish, Blow Fish, Blow Fish, Blow Fish, Blow Fish, Blow Fish, Blow Fish, Blow Fish, Blow Fish, Blow Fish; Very painful unless you kill it quickly. Any unblockable defence ignoring attack will work.

I thought that Snare can't be used on bosses (ie they shake a lot, but don't pass into the void). That would mean that any fast boss fights would require Doom/X-zone even if you do have Mog with you. Since you're probably going to be using the Moogle Charm, it doesn't matter in the long run: you'll have Mog in the party with at least the Dusk Requiem and whatever the Flatland/Sun song is, so worrying about the time it takes to get dances is pointless. Speaking of dances: isn't it better to have Mog use the latter dance for any fights he is in, considering it has multipurpose singular/multiple damage spells and a very helpful heal spell? I assume the only time he wouldn't be dancing is when you're in battles that require specific spells or targets. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Doom and X-Zone don't work on bosses either, except in special circumstances. Pay very close attention to the following quotes. There is a very subtle link between them, and you may need to read through them a few times before you spot it...

I love this game, and I have been looking forward to an SNES9x run of this. I was just wondering, how's it coming along? Also, can ya put up a new run from the begining to where ever your at now? I tried the one with the south figaro name, but it only gets to where Terra is in bed after the Esper incident, and she just lays there, dead as a door nail.... Thanks

Because it works for me, I put up a highly compressed AVI of it. Here. http://tracker.tasvideos.org/finalfantasy3-timeattack-jyzero-lowqualitysnapshot.avi.torrent (23 MB) The quality ended up being a little lower than I intended, but it's still followable.

I wasn't using the save state... If I do use it, it loads, and then the movie ends, or rather, never gets going. Also, the torrent you put out, its stuck at 14%, Not sure if you just left it, or if you made a few seeds, and they abandoned us, but could you come back and seed it a little longer?
