About the movie

This is an improvement to my previous atempt at fastest ingame time, it is by the games clock 19.37 seconds or 1162 frames faster so the clock is finally down to 00:23 :)
Much of the improvement comes from better ammo/energy management (I think 5-6 seconds) and more Continuous wall jumps which can be implemented at many more places than I originally thought, several seconds came from that as well. The rest is just better room strategies and better general optimization.

Thanks to various persons (in no particular order):

Hero of the day, Tonski, Saturn, Kriole, Taco, moozooh, JXQ, evilchen, Terimakashi, Michael Flatly, Frenom, gocha And the creators of Snes9x and it's improvements whom I don't know by name. You should know why you are mentioned and if you want to have me write something specifically say so.

Bisqwit: I realize this is another pandora's box, but producing entertaining movies is one of the major goals of this site, and this movie seems to have been deemed entertaining by the audience. As this category of movie has popped in from time to time, I will therefore proceed to accept this movie for publication alongside the aims-for-realtime movie.
Bisqwit: Processing.

I am so loving this run. Excellent stylistic choices, excellent optimization. I'd give it 10/9 any time.

Cpadolf, I've seen your skill progress and it's very impressive. Of course, without my perfect demos to study from, you would not be same fast, but it's ok to copy my work, it's what TASing is! Respect! (Just wanted to clear up confusion.)

You can't imagine how much I laughed when I read that, your timing is otherworldly.

just finished watching. This was thoroughly entertaining and I'll make sure to watch it another couple of times when there's time to kill :) While I still prefer real-time-runs, this is just 5 real-time seconds slower than hero's old run, and it incorporates so many new tricks and shortcuts that I consider it truly superior. Thus voting yes for publication and obsoletion of hero's run. Well, you could have used the turnaround-cancel-thingy a bit less often, but it's no big deal. ;) ..so, what's this thing I hear about a 100% run? do you plan to aim for ingame-time again?

No need for that, as hero will be submitting an improvement to his movie in just a day or so.

Yes though hero's upcoming run will be something like 1:30 faster than this so...

I will use a realtime oriented route (though the route might be the fasters ingame route too, but I'm not 100% sure on that) but I might end up optimizing door-entries for ingame time (not sure yet) since 00:36 is very tantalizing and sub 70 minutes realtime will be achieved anyway.

Amazing run dude. I think you have pushed the game to pretty much the very limit. I don't see this being improved by more than a couple seconds at most. The ridley KO was nuts! It really puts my ridley KO to shame. Once again I must make note of your great stylistics choices. It is those extra little efforts that make the whole run just that much more fun to watch. easy yes vote

That's strange, considering that SNES games typically use SFC extensions.
Taking over the world, one game at a time. Currently TASing: Nothing

Yes pretty much every ROM I know for SNES has a .smc extension, the SM ROM I used though (I have something like 5-6) says .swc though.

Entertained? Why, yes. I'm always happy to watch a new Super Metroid run; as well as I know the game, I cannot even begin to have the patience to mess with an honest TAS of it myself, so I just live vicariously through the likes of you. Wonderful technique, great fun to watch, and whether it's accepted or not, I give it an enthusiastic thumbs up. Good work.
Kirby said so, so it must be true. ( >'.')>

Emulators don't care about the ROM file extension - but "smc", "swc" etc. are abbreviations of copier names, while "sfc" means "Super Famicom". It's also used by NSRT.

Voting yes for the noticeable lack of wall jumping in the old Tourian shaft.

Voting yes. Very entertaining and fast. Now onward to the 100%.
Current TAS Project: SMR 100% TAS - 12.5% of the way done with the initial route (I'm going to then release it for further improvments)

When the ROM image doesn't have a copier header.

18 yes votes, you ought to be proud of yourself Cpadolf. :) SM any% doesn't get much better from this, I think no matter if Saturn would've finished his this is much better for sure. The entertainment value which of you're known is just gigantic, I especielly love it (simply love) how you collected those Draygon refils. The damage boost. Then the Ridley KO, overall optimization, etc, it's just golden. This is maybe the first run where in I watched and wondered dang how can Samus do so many things at the same time, again the entertainment. A yes from me too, good work.
