College student. I've worked for a hedge fund during the summer, and have done economics and applied math research (Surprisingly, the latter paid almost as much as the former). I'll likely attend grad school after graduating, so there won't be any "real" work in my future except for consulting and start-ups.

Near Future -> Getting a degree in economics/business. Distant Future -> Eventually go back to school (mostly for interest rather than a new profession) and get a degree, possibly a PhD in physics (yet to decide what field of physics).

Many universities allow you to get your PhD straight after your Bachelors in the US. Some people do this, and fall back to getting a Masters if the PhD program is too tough. But then it all depends on if the Masters and PhD courses overlap, which may not be the case. Often PhD is 90% research (at least in technical fields), while Masters have the administrative requirements of courses you are required to take.
