Why are you lying? Read my posts in this thread again and then come back and say again that I posted *just to criticize*. I did participate in the topic itself, and instead of "just criticizing" I offered alternative suggestions. Maybe I write a lot without saying much, but at least I don't lie about other people.

i'm not sure if that's good or bad :P As for me, Minish Cap. After playing Link's Awakening and the not-amazing-but-still-pretty-good Oracle series, Minish Cap just felt like... well, crap. Short, typical look-at-us-we-can-add-voices-hur-hur-hur, and generally just annoying. Comes complete with its own Navi clone! Extremely disappointing after the three previous handheld games.

Hmmm... Minish Cap. Is the only reason you dislike it because of the annoying voices and such? Because I liked it quite a bit, but always played it in class with the sound off, so I can only have an opinion on the gameplay/plot and graphics.

That, among the "Let's make everything obvious" problem, the sheer non-length of the game (4 levels?), more... Though the voices really were annoying :P

I always though of it as being similar to Majora's Mask, with a heavier emphasis on sidequests. But I agree, a few more dungeons would have been nice.

I never really noticed the subquests, probably because they felt a lot more like "FedEx Quests" than actual subquests. Eh. It's the same with LA; go do x before you can enter y. Done like that (which afaik Minish Cap was) and it turns into a redundant, annoying bother.

Do spinoffs of TV series count as "sequels"? If yes, then IMO CSI:Miami sucks quite a lot compared to the original CSI. In CSI most characters have a very professional feeling and personality to them. The main cast consists of clearly differentiable characters, each with their own personality, traits, hobbies (such as Grissom) and vices (such as Brown). Another good example is the head coroner, who is an older man who always acts very professionally, is always very composed and seems to take his job seriously. Overall, I think the series has good character development and enjoyable stories. The cast of CSI:Miami feels quite bland in comparison. Investigators which never seem to wear the proper attire for their job, perform investigations in ways that look really sloppy (one good example is a very long-haired female character examining a crime scene close to the ground, with her hair *on the ground*; if there's no crime scene contamination happening there, I don't know where is) and which have rather bland and undistinctive, and sometimes even ridiculous personalities (for example the coroner is a young woman who talks to dead people as if they were alive). The only character who has even moderate charisma is the lead CSI Caine, the rest are either bland or outright annoying (I'm really starting to hate that long-haired blond woman, who is constantly smirking even in situations where it's not appropriate at all; it gives me the temptation of punching her in the face).

Warp, is Miami with the old guy who has red hair? If so, I hate him. There is something about him that just screams douche, and his acting sucks! Another good one is Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Horrible acting, it is almost blasphemous. I don't know how L&O went from the original, to Special Victums Unit (the best, imo) to Criminal Intent, but jesus what a bad drop in quality.

But does CSI Las Vegas have THIS? (Notice taking off glasses JUST so he can put them back on. Awesome!) I actually like CSI Miami just because of David Caruso's character. It's just so over the top and I love how he's the expert of EVERYTHING. If there's a bomb that needs defusing, call Horatio. If you need a sniper, call Horatio. If you need to take someone down in a fistfight, call Horatio. There's just nothing he can't do! I don't think it's meant to be taken as seriously as LV or NY. On a side note, it's pretty silly to say that CSI LV is better than CSI Miami because of investigations looking sloppy, because LV is just as guilty as this. The thing that bugs me the most is that it's always pitch black on the crime scenes and they are searching for microscopic fibers in a huge rug with goddamn mini mag-lites. You'd think they'd want to use huge halogen lights bolted into the ceiling or something. The office/lab/headquarters also looks like it's not getting enough power or something.

Agreed. But swarmed by naysayers, we are silent. Yeah, I know I just broke the Deathly Hallows oath, but I blame Fabian.
While I can't really say I've discussed the book/series with a ton of people, I haven't heard even a single person say they didn't love Deathly Hallows. I'm curious where these naysayers you speak of come from.

Internet forums filled with fans that make weird predictions like "The Whomping Willow is Harry's grandfather and suffers from epilepsy."

In terms of games I'd have to say Resident Evil 0, the main gameplay concept had clearly run it's course and new systems that were added made the game less playable. Thankfully it had the greatest comeback of all time in the name of Resident Evil 4.
I loved Resident Evil 4, and I'm glad the majority of people forgave the deviance from the traditional system, and even went so far to embrace and accept it. You don't see that very often. SUCH a good game.

I totally agree. Resident Evil 4 is probably the BEST sequel of all time.

I remember when I watched House of the Dead and thought to myself, this is the worst movie ever made. Then I saw they made a sequel. So I wondered, could it realy be worse? And to my disappointment it wasn't :(.

Final Fantasy IX: Though not a sequel in a technical sense, I think this deserves a mention. This was the one that turned me off from the series. Zidane...let's just say I don't like this guy. The main bad guy isn't any better, and combine that with a lame love story and one of the most random endings ever (complete with a final boss out of nowhere), I could see exactly what road this series was going down.
final fantasy 7 and 8 were quite different from the older ones. they were very modern (especially ff8) and didn't have so much magic. some people didn't like that, so maybe that's why square made final fantasy 9 more like the old ones: a magical fairytale story. but i have to agree that it sucked (though i only managed to play it like 2h before i got bored). ff10 was weird because it had speech, it was 3d and tidus was a weirdo, but it was still good, especially because of the religious theme in the game. i think religion is interesting.

How do you screw up a movie that is 2 hours of hitting people in the nuts with various household objects?

Speaking of sequels being good... The original Diablo was a classic, difficult, claustrophobic, and moody game. But the sequel has better graphics, art design, depth, gameplay, and is just far more playable (you can run!). One can certainly critique some elements which depart from the original (the sunny areas, the wide open fields, etc.) but judging by the amount of hours I've played/wasted on it over the years, well, it's just more addicting. Plus there's the fun mod named Median -- play it with a friend and it's a blast. As for the origin of the thread... I am quite certain that Starcraft II is going to be a technically proficient and a "good" game. The problem is Starcraft 1 is as close to perfect as I've seen any game and the community is entrenched. SCII is going to be a huge disappointment no matter what, just because it's Starcraft. I'm quite confident that SC will be far superior to its sequel in terms of multiplayer. At this point I'm just hoping they don't muck up the single player story too much (go Kerrigan!). Counter-Strike: Source is an EPIC fail. I could write an essay on this topic. CS 1.6 forever and ever, amen.
