I was thinking the other day about the Final Fantasy games. Suddenly it occurred to me: Other than Final Fantasy 6, I had completed none of them. Thus my quest: To complete all of the first 6 Final Fantasy games before the end of this year. This will not be easy. There's going to be a lot of hard work involved. I will get cramps in both my wrists. My butt will start hurting after a long session of play. I will get constant headaches from eye strain. Hell, I may even gain a few pounds. But I think I can honestly say I would be the first person to beat the first six FF games in the span of 4 months, because that's how much time I have. I will post screenshots of all of the games' final bosses as I complete that game. (Note that the screenshot for FF4 is mistakenly entitled FF2.png. Gnome automatically named it that, and I never caught it before uploading it to photobucket. The screenshot for FF2 will be entitled FF2j.png to compensate.) Without abusing savestates, I'm sure. Any other conditions?

Between May and August, I played through IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XII, and Tactics, so it IS doable. I haven't replayed the first two in any form in a few years, and I constantly fall asleep playing III on DS, but I'd almost like to take up the challenge. We'll see how much free time I have between job hunts. Amazingly enough, I actually have a healthy social life. Final Fantasies just become easy to fly through when you already know the story and just want to get from point A to point B. Using sleep mode on PSP just makes it that much easier to play in short bursts while you wait for the grill to heat up, or the shower to be free, or oil to drain from the car, etc.
Kirby said so, so it must be true. ( >'.')>

I wouldn't exactly call playing through 6 (down to 4 already?) games in 5 months a challenge, but good luck nevertheless, it should be fun if you've never played them.

I'm contemplating on playing through FF1 and 2 again, but according to news sites they're getting *another* revamp for PSP? I thought there was already a PSP version out. I guess I better wait for that release...

I bought the PSP versions of I and II because they were cheap (I have never played any version of them before), so they are in my todo list. I have played FF 4, 5 and 6 through, but with (moderate) savestate abuse (not too much, though). I also own FF8 for the PC (bought it *many* years ago), and I got to the final boss (I think) but didn't pass it then. I have been planning on playing it through again for years. (I just hope it still works in my current computer. Never tried.) If I find FF7 for the Playstation somewhere I might buy it and play it with pSX (I'm not a very big fan of pirating games newer than a certain critical age...). Btw, does anyone know for sure that it will work directly from the game CD with a regular PC CD drive, using the current version of pSX?

I know ePSXe works with all original PSX games from the CD/DVD drive. I don't use pSX so I can't say anything on that specifically, but it should since the only difference between an original game and a copy is (to my knowledge) the lack of bad sectors at the beginning and the end of the disc...or whatever the PSX uses to determine whether the disc is legit or not.

It's different for each game. I've played my own PAL copy of FFVII fine on an emulator with no trouble.

I would recommend that you complete the majority of optional game content as well. For example, in VI you can skip almost 1/3 of the game in the WoR if you want, but that's no fun.

Did you know it was released for PC too?

Yeah, and sold eg. at amazon.co.uk at a more expensive price than a brand new modern PC game.

I finished FF3, the pictures is up. I'm not sure when FF2 will be done, the leveling system is getting on my nerves (stat building takes so LOOONG)
