I just got a new DVD burner and Vista. What software do you use/recommend to convert video files of many types and codecs to DVD format, and burns it? Is there a general utility like this for free?

I use ImgBurn, I personally found it to be more reliable and easy to use than the other DVD burners I've tried. (other dvd burner that I've tried randomly crash, destroys dvd-r, or too confusing interface) It's free, but it doesn't do format converting.

For people who don't understand no crap about codecs, I recommend SUPER. It's an easy-to-handle GUI for a bunch of complicated software. It can convert to dvd format (VOB), but I don't know exactly how to build a DVD with those files. The easiest and most obvious tool for this is Nero 8, but it's not free and can't convert all file types.
