Funny. Also, seeing Toby McGuire and Leonardo DiCaprio next to each other makes me wonder who would win a "whos the bigger pussy showdown".

gee, i would vote if i didn't have to worry about jury duty. this advert strikes me as stupid, or at least an instance of viewers are morons, because many people think that voting is bad from the perspective of game theory (e. g., you're more likely to die in an accident than to determine the outcome of an election), and it does nothing to address that.

Jury duty? that's easy to avoid. Tell them you don't think you will be fair at trail, the are legally obligated to dismiss you.

i'd rather not have to worry about it at all. apparently this country sucks so much that you're penalised for voting.

It is now illegal to do this in many courts in the US. Showing up to Jury Duty and actively using racial epithets/claiming that you favor one race over another can easily earn you a contempt charge, since jury proceedings are considered an action of the courts themselves. Also, Jury Duty is rad. I don't know why you would want to avoid it. You get paid money to sit in a big room and dick around until they call you in to a room, and then you get an open forum to tell people what you think about things until they eventually tell you that you aren't the experienced and compassionate middle class worker that they are looking for. e: I hope you know that you'll also get Jury Duty for owning a license to drive.

You get money, but a lot, lot less then if you actually go to work for the same amount of time ><. I guess that depends on your job though. They pay peanuts

The fact that they pay at all should be enough to shut most people up. It's one day every two years where you get to do some civil service and earn your place in society. I'll never understand why people are so vehemently against having to go to a courthouse and do something for society, rather than having society do something for them.
