VirtualBox does not support hardware acceleration. Although the PSX did not filter textures that would actually require a real gfx chip, I seriously doubt anything 3D would want to run on VirtualBox.

Also, sometimes 0.0.5 uses a lot of CPU. Normally when playing it uses 50% (1core), and temperature is 55c But suddenly it does more work at random times and temp goes to 60c. It goes to 60c when I'm not even playing a game, and when I am playing it may go back down to 55c.. Even when in turbo mode (1000fps) it is at 55c, so I think it is an error why it works the cpu when not running a game? Temp is on both cores. (3.2GHz E6400 Core2Duo) It's a minor issue of course

I know someone talked about how to encode videos, but I can't seem to find it. At least, people have been encoding videos quite a bit...

Well, I didn't read more than the readme.txt that comes with the emulator, but I couldn't fix this: I have configured the controller, and I started playing (not even recording), ridge racer revolution. I could control everything fine, but then when starting the race the controllers became unresponsive again. I can even reset the emu and it'll still be unresponsive.. First controller: nrage 0.95 second control: nrage 0.95 It's confusing... Why are there two slots to set plugins for each controller if inside each plugin you can configure both controllers? doesn't that give some conflict?

Try Segu Direct Input Joystick Driver 0.3. I have that Segu plugin for Controller 1, and left the NRage one for Controller 2.

re: the 'controller plugin has 2 sets of settings anyway' There's no conflict afaik, seeing as the settings are stored in the registry(?). Changes in one should mirror in the other. I know it looks confusing, but if they're both set to the same plugin, nothing bad should happen.

mz: While testing some games with recording out of sheer boredom and curiosity to see how things would go, I found that the "black screen" issue was even more annoying than I had first thought. The game in question that I found this issue to be occurring in was Breath of Fire III (one of my favourites, so I thought I'd do the intro part when I was bored yesterday). Trying to optimize the intro, I had savestated after the capcom logo but before the mural that scrolls by until you press start. Initially, I thought the ideal frame was somewhere around 1055. All was fine I thought, so I proceeded after seeing it sync with that particular savestate. I then got a bit further before replaying from the beginning. Turns out, the mural went by for a while, so I redid it. the ideal point this time was around frame 1025. Again, redid the parts, and checked sync, it seemed good. Then I replayed it again from the beginning, and yet again (this time through hex editing trial and error), the ideal frame had moved ahead to frame 999. Less of a point is that I savestated, partially by accident, during a black screen transition between areas, and the resulting input after reloading a few times to get the right frame ended up desyncing when I actually played it back. Basically, I'm just inquiring here about this (and this may or may not be related to the desync with eternal spu plugin): are the savestates saving *everything* (including audio related events and such) that the emulator is doing at the point in time of the savestate? If they aren't, this may be the cause of some of the desyncs that occur. Oh, and there was a period when the game was checking for memory cards at the beginning for data in which the emu couldn't be paused, but if you pressed the pause key during it, it'd pause as soon as said period was complete. Sorry for the wall of text, but I suck at describing things.

I've noticed the only time I get desyncs are when I save during loading screens. It is probably an extremely difficult task to get the current state of loading saved, and then emulate in playback. That is most likely why the point in which the first loading process completes continually moves. I think PSX tases will have to not count initial loading periods for optimization, since this may be a likely candidate for desyncs. Also, lag frames are autoskipped in MZ's PCSX. Most likely a ton of lag when reading from a memory card. Even pause doesn't work in lag frames.

hm, I ran Ridge racer revolution on this emulator, and when I push'd L1, emulator crashed =\ Also I found ood that this emulator works full speed even with sound (well I only hear voices and efects, no music at all, or it is my CD or plugin =/), but why it cant run .ISO's? EDIT: I run another game, lego rock raiders, and music works, but it runs little too fast, maybe I should put fps limit to 60 EDIT2: I put fps limit to 59, and still music sounds somtimes too fast, even on FMV, also I noticed that only FMV and title screen haves music, and on my ps2 my copy/cd of this game works without any problems (well some music lags due scratchs >_>) EDIT3: I got it to work, but still it doesnt play all music :\ EDIT4: Lol I just noticed that I run 0.01version EDIT5: I found that 0.01 version works better; loading times are shorter, and runs much better FPS, also lego rock raiders menu are messed up 0.05:

So, I have no idea if this is the right place to ask this, but here goes: Is the memory card data generated by this emulator (or any PSX emulator) convertible to a format usable by a real PSX memory card? I have a Pro Action Replay Max USB flash drive thingy, so I was thinking if I could convert an emulator's save file to the correct format, I could place it on the USB drive, plug that and a PSX memory card into a PS2, and transfer the data to the memory card. Any ideas if this is possible? Am I asking in the wrong thread?

This page has the answers, I think: http://www.aldostools.com/memcards.html If not, this page looks promising (look at the last tool listed on the page): http://www.ngemu.com/psx/pcsx.php?action=tools

would be good if this emulator would remember which save slot was selected last time. i think most other emulators remember.

How do you record AVI with this thing? Now i got it to record movies; can play back them just fine and I should be able to TAS PS1 games. I tried to record some footage with FRAPS, but it lags alot. Also PCSX crashes sometimes when recording movies. I did play the movie with same *.iso as I recorded it at; I just need information how to make AVI from the *.pxm file. Anyone help? Simple; How do you record AVI from the movie file on PCSX rr.005? //31.10, people, can I have an answer?!

if you had wasted some time checking ALL the options, you'd find that the video plugin can record avis. And Pete's dsound plugin can record wavs.

I can't seem to compile the Linux version of this. Because I don't want to bomb the database, I cut out the hopefully relevant parts:
$ make
gcc -Wall -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -finline-functions -ffast-math -fno-exceptions -march=pentiumpro -I. -I.. -D__LINUX__ -DPCSX_VERSION=\"1.5\" -DPACKAGE=\"pcsx\" -DENABLE_NLS -D__i386__ -I/usr/include/gtk-2.0 -I/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/include -I/usr/include/atk-1.0 -I/usr/include/cairo -I/usr/include/pango-1.0 -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/libpng12 -I/usr/include/pixman-1 -c -o ../PsxBios.o ../PsxBios.c
In file included from ../PsxBios.c:25:
../PsxCommon.h:194: error: ‘MAX_PATH’ undeclared here (not in a function)
[...]
../PsxBios.c: In function ‘psxBiosFreeze’:
../PsxBios.c:2264: error: invalid lvalue in assignment
../PsxBios.c:2265: error: invalid lvalue in assignment
../PsxBios.c:2266: error: invalid lvalue in assignment
../PsxBios.c:2267: error: invalid lvalue in assignment
../PsxBios.c:2268: error: invalid lvalue in assignment
make: *** [../PsxBios.o] Error 1
$
Any help on this is of course highly appreciated. I changed -O4 to -O2 (although I don't think this would change things in any way). x86 (2.6.27.1), gcc 4.2.1, glibc 2.6.1

Er... It looks like "MAX_PATH" is Windows only, so you may need to define it somewhere else first in Linux. Like this:
#define ‘MAX_PATH’ 255
My code probably has lots of Windows specific code, so you may need to change a lot of lines first to make it work.

I didn't modify "PsxBios.c", so I can't help you here; it looks like that's an error from the original PCSX.

How can I change disc with this emulator? I'm playing Parasite Eve, and when I mount Disc 2 into Daemon, nothing happens, it just says Insert Disc 2. I can change disc on ePSXe because it has the change CD-ROM but this emulator doesn't have that. I've tried ejecting and loading tray but that didn't work either. And Parasite Eve doesn't give the option to save to memory card at disc change.

Er... I think there used to be a hotkey for that, but I forgot about adding it to the configurable list. I'll add it back for the next version.

ok, thanks, but it should be possible to change discs somehow because i remember i was able to do that a few months ago when i tried an earlier version of your PCSX.

Couldn't you save at the last disc, close the emulator, put the new Cd, and then load the game normally ?

well it's normal, you have to send a message to the emulator to tell it that the disk has changed. I think it's pretty much the same with other emulator such as PSX

no, that doesn't work because the game doesn't let me save to memory card when the first disc ends.

hum I don't know if you are recording a run, if not, there's always a possibility of switching to another emulator (converting your save file to another format) change dics and save after, then reconvert to play in PCSX. Anyway if it's not possible during recording, then it would be impossible for a long time (unless someone works actively on this emulator)
