Here is the all red gem run, for best ending. For those who do not know the difference, the best ending is when 70 red gems are collected. In the end,it shows Alladin, played by the computer, in some of the game levels, while cast names are displayed. It is, imo, a much better ending than showing the same lame Jasmin/Aladdin/Carpet level, all the way to the end.

Objectives

  • Aims for fastest time with all Red gems
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Some luck manipulation
  • Uses no password

    • Allow Left+Right/Up+Down _ On

mmbossman: I agree with many of the responses in the thread; this run provides a lot more variety and chances for exhibition of acrobatics than the previous version. However, I believe that the general content of both this and the any% run are too similar to be published alongside each other. To use a poor metaphor, they're both the same meal, and this version simply adds a little more spice. I'm accepting this run as a "good ending" version of the game, to obsolete the current "any %" run.

There's a discussion about obsoletion vs. side-by-side publishing earlier in the thread. I do agree the filename could have been done differently.

There is no current description, other than a copy of the previous text. Information regarding the use of the red gems and the good ending can be included when someone takes the time to edit the description. I agree that the file name probably could have included some descriptor along the lines of "best ending", but it's not that big of a deal (also, the movie is currently tagged with "best ending" on the publication page).

I'm just coming here to say that it took me fucking forever to figure out what this video was by the description on the main page. Someone needs to fix the times and put the red gem explanation. Just emphasizing.

Whenever I see the front page right now, I end up with "Friend Like Me" getting stuck in my head. Every single time. Disney songs don't seem to be that catchy anymore. Or at least entertainingly catchy. Watching this run made me feel like Elizabeth Swan learning that the secret to getting off a desert island is to wait for a booze trafficking ship to come along. How many times have you played a game and come across some random, secret doodad that seemed to have absolutely no way to be reached, but was minor enough for you not to obsess about it? You just think, "Oh, I'll probably figure it out on a later playthrough." And when you get back to that item, but hit the same brick wall, and think the same thing when you can't get it. As the years go by, you always think to yourself, "You know, I never could figure out how to reach that platform." Then, years later, you watch someone else play it. Then they get that doodad using some tactic that somehow you never though of. The reaction is nearly exactly the same as Ms. Swan's. Seriously. Bouncing on thrown swords? That's all it took? Good grief! That being said, bravo to Capcom for the placement of those red gems. It seemed that many of them took some actual creative thinking to reach as opposed to taking brief survey of your surroundings and instantly knowing what to do, like push a block or plant an explosive, or simply obscuring the solution in the form of a Magical Hidden Button that doesn't require as much thinking as it does dumb luck and/or foreknowledge to get right. Such design seems to be missing nowadays. Also, there's just something I absolutely love about that period's Super Nintendo music. I just can't get over how happy the way it sounds makes me happy.
A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me.
