In the Mega Man 3456 run, there is a glitch where if there is a screen transition going down and you place two Super Arrows at the top of the screen (one that you can stand on and one that you jump repeatedly automatically on it) at the correct position then you slide on them, you will go through the top of the screed to the bottom and there will be a screen transition going down. P.S. Hey Baxter, how far are you on your run?

Hehe... well obviously, I will be using this in the run, it's not like I have forgotten. In fact, it's the main reason I'm redoing the run probably.

Oh, and for the explosion after the boss, jumping at certain frames helps to reduce some lag. You should try it and see if it works for you.

Yeah, I'm redoing the from the Gravityman fight. Of course I'll try to reduce lag as much as possible during the explosion ;)

Oh, and there's another small time saver at the first boss gate where right after it's done closing while you're sliding press the left button for 1 frame and slide again.

Are you talking about the first gate? I am constantly sliding there, don't know why cancelling a slide, and doing a new one would be faster.... If you are talking about the secong gate, then yes... it is possible to slide in the room before the boss gets there. But this also makes the boss appear later. And because bullets travel faster than megaman sliding, it's better not to do it.

I was talking about the first gate. I'm talking about right after the gate closes back. Do you know what I'm talking about? It might be just 1 or 2 frames faster.

Ah, I know what you are talking about now. That's a nice find, good job :). It appears to be 2 frames faster in this case :S... It will be hard to hold on to those 2 frames with all the randomness... I'll see if I need to redo from here or not.

I'm done again with the starman battle. In addition to the 2 frames I saved by the gate trick, I managed to eliminate 4 more frames of lag, so I'm currently 6 frames ahead of the previous wip.

Now that you're done with that level, I have a strategy to skip the last enemy in room 4 of Gravity Man's stage so that you won't have to take damage from it. Keep sliding until you get to the ledge then jump on the ledge and slide backwards and so as far to the left as you can so that you avoid the enemy.

If you had watched either the movie I uploaded in this topic, or that I sent you through PM, you would have noticed that I already skipped this enemy in those wips.

That's cool. So, how far are you on your run now? Oh, and don't forget to look for as many opportunities for zipping glitches as you can (I'll even help you look for some)! I know you can do it! :)

Baxter, I can't find it. Your post message is there but all it has is a link to your website on it. I even checked that link and I didn't find a single WIP on it. I can't find it on this topic either.

Well, this is certainly not my latest WIP. The WIP you got there, I continued, and completed Gyroman also, and the start of the Chargeman stage (I do think that when redoing, I would pick Crystalman after Gyroman). Here is that wip: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/141086897/Mega%20Man%205%202.fm2 I however improved the Starman battle (I redid this because of the one-frame gate 'zip' you mentioned some time ago, and then when redoing the Starman fight, I was able to avoid more lag frames at the end of the battle), and redid from there, completing most of the Gravityman stage (the Gravityman fight of that old version could be improved greatly after all also). Here is that new WIP: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/94147041/Mega%20Man%205%20U.fm2 However, at this point in the run, it was discovered at there was a one-frame zip also possible at the ladders, so a frame or two could also be saved at the Starman stage at this new version... and I wasn't really motivated to redo all of that AGAIN...

I'm motivated to do it! I think I can save more time on Star Man's stage! :) And about the WIP for this game, I didn't know that you had one that was finished through Gyro Man. I'm interested to see other spots at the Starman stage where you can save time :) Yeah, I probably didn't post the Gyroman stage WIP here at the forum, but I thought I had sent it to you in a PM. Where the movie ends at the chargeman stage, it's just before another screen wrapping. I however stopped at that particular point at the time because I didn't have a consistent method to test all logical options for avoiding lag. I also stopped there because doing Crystalman first might be good, so that the Crystalman weapon can be used during theh middle section of the chargeman stage, instead of gyroman's weapon which was used previously. They are equally strong, but you sometimes can't slide, and have to fire gyroman's weapon quite late, since sliding would cause the weapon to move down. At any rate, good luck on finding more improvements on the starman stage, I'd love to see wips :)

Hey Baxter, something just occurred to me! In Mega Man 4 if you get stuck inside of a wall, you die (unless you're still blinking). But in this game if you're inside of a wall you just get stuck. It is possible to get yourself out by being in slide motion somehow and zipping out like in MM4 with Rush Jet. Maybe there is a sliding-zipping glitch in there somewhere!

I've tried several times to get in a wall with Super Arrow while in sliding motion, too. The only way to progress while "inside" of a wall is to be in the sliding pose while alternating the left and right arrow keys every frame (with the pixelation adjusted of course). Taking damage from an enemy is another way too.

Yes. But I think that it could still be possible to get in a wall while sliding. I'll try more strategies to get it but if nothing works, we're stuck the "take damage" zipping glitch.

Yes. I don't know about the sliding.
Well, moving forward with the sliding motion. The only spot where I know it works is where the ceiling goes up and does.
