I'm glad there is activity on that TG forum, and the fact that many people think the 28 run is rediculous. I have bad news though, I'm in over my head with important work to finish, so my run at this game will have to be delayed. :|

Anyone know or can find out where the timer is for DKC 2?

I don't know, but I could probably find it without too much trouble. Do you have any preference of which ROM I test? Edit: Here are your choices: Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (E) (V1.1) [!] 2.85 Mo Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (E) (V1.1) [t1] 2.85 Mo Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (G) (V1.0) [t1] 2.85 Mo Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (G) (V1.0) 2.84 Mo Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (G) (V1.1) [!] 2.85 Mo Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (U) (V1.0) [t1] 2.85 Mo Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (U) (V1.0) [t2] 2.85 Mo Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (U) (V1.0) [t3] 2.85 Mo Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (U) (V1.0) [t4] 2.89 Mo Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (U) (V1.0) [t5] 2.89 Mo Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (U) (V1.0) 2.84 Mo Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (U) (V1.1) [!] 2.84 Mo I'm pretty sure you'd prefer (U) over (E), but should I choose (V1.0) or (V1.1) [!]? For DKC you chose the earlier version, but for DKC2 the later version has a [!] which means that it's a verified good dump. Btw, does anyone know what (G) means? Edit 2: I just looked up what (G) means and it means Germany.

(G) is German. Why do you keep excluding the Japanese games? Look under "Super Donkey Kong".
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster. I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.

Why do you keep excluding the Japanese games? Look under "Super Donkey Kong". Super Donkey Kong isn't listed in the same area as all the others, I would have had to click on S to see it. Edit: Penev, if you do a save state run for DKC2, I just looked on Gamefaqs and there's a code for a hard mode that you might want to use, and there's also a trick to get all 75 kremcoins. Edit 2: The value for the part of the timer that's always changing is at the address 7E00D5.

Because the majority of people that see these timeattacks can read english, but not japanese. -_-. The only time that I think the japanese verision should be used is when there is no port. Of course, this is just my opinion.

So why did he list German and PAL versions? (as NTSC is superior video quality) If he was going for a complete list of versions he should have included Japanese.

So why did he list German and PAL versions? (as NTSC is superior video quality) If he was going for a complete list of versions he should have included Japanese. I answered that already. The German, PAL, and NTSC versions were all listed together in one little area so it was easy to just copy and paste the whole thing without having to click on all the letters trying to find all the ROMs with the words "Donkey Kong" in them, but if it would make you so happy to see the Japanese versions, I'll copy and paste them just for you, so here you go: Super Donkey Kong 2 - Dixie & Diddy (J) (V1.0) [f1] 2.83 Mo Super Donkey Kong 2 - Dixie & Diddy (J) (V1.0) [t1] 2.84 Mo Super Donkey Kong 2 - Dixie & Diddy (J) (V1.0) [t2] 2.83 Mo Super Donkey Kong 2 - Dixie & Diddy (J) (V1.0) 2.84 Mo Super Donkey Kong 2 - Dixie & Diddy (J) (V1.1) 2.83 Mo Is that enough or should I look through every single SNES game to see if any others have the words "Donkey Kong" in them or if there are any Donkey Kong Country hacks? Edit: I just found a NES game called Donkey Kong Country 4 (Unl) [!]. Does anyone want to try it out and tell me if it's any good? Edit 2: I just found a GBX game called Super Donkey Kong GB (J) [S], and a Genesis game called Super Donkey Kong 99 (Unl). *thinks for a moment* Wait a minute, I thought that site I go to doesn't have Genesis roms, does anyone know what system the goodgen rom set is for? Edit 3: Here are some more NES games I just found: Hi-Game 1999 - Super Donkey Kong 2 [p1][!] 84.53 Ko Super Donkey Kong - Xiang Jiao Chuan (As) 186.26 Ko Super Donkey Kong 2 [p1] 135.73 Ko Super Donkey Kong 2 [p1][a1] 135.74 Ko Super Donkey Kong [p1][!] 109.26 Ko Edit 4: Nevermind, goodgen is for Genesis, apparently the site does have Genesis roms because I can find them when I do searches but it isn't listed in the list of systems.

How are your DKC speed run attempts going, Deviance? I haven't heard about them for awhile. Will you ever be sending a video to SDA?

Even if you never get a 43 minute run, you should still send the 44 minute run to SDA. I'm sure there are many people who'd like to see it.

the only run I have recorded was my last attempt. In that run, I do the first three worlds nearly perfect until I get hit by the frustrating temple tempest glitch which sends me back to Jungle Hijinx.

So if enough of you can peer pressure me into doing this, I'll probably push for the WR once again. Maybe there could be a poll that asks whether or not you should finish your speed run. When I click to edit the first post in this topic, I see an option that lets me add in a poll, but I'm not sure exactly how it works since I've never used it before. There's a box to type the poll question, there's a box where I can type a poll option and a button to the right of that that says "add option" (does anyone know what this does?), and a box where I can type how many days the poll will last. Is there any way to make choices for what people can vote for in the poll?

Just click the 'Add Option' button to add a single poll choice, and another choice will appear. 'Add Option' again and again until all the poll choices are up.

Peer pressure, eh? Consider it done. I'd quite like to see a 43 minute run of this.

Ok, I added in the poll, so now we'll see how anticpated Deviance's DKC run really is.

taking a break from this game was actually a good thing. Since I don't remember everything, I started to play the levels slightly different which has so far resulted in two new tricks. If I do this run, I'm sure it will be one of the best looking speedruns out there.

so far three people's lives depend on this now. Nine votes total. Now give me more votes! I refuse to move until I see at least 15 votes total, that's six more votes, enough to motivate me to work on this the next coming weeks! Also, Michael cleverly worded the choices so that saying no to this run would be pretty much the same as saying no to every run that exists, in which case, why would you be here in the first place? :p

That could be arranged by me posting about this topic on the GameFAQs DKC message board, but do you really want random people who might spam, flame, and do other bad stuff coming here?

already two more people voted, so that's four more to go!

The members of the DKC board don't seem that bad, but it's probably not worth the chance.

ok, did a run on emulator, used 5 or so savestates. Why? Because 1) the emulator lags at times and is hard to control and 2) I'm still not the master I once was :p. Anyway, the estimated time with current strats is somewhere 44-45. I'll take anything sub-46. Edit: Did a miserable run on the console, died a couple of times, but still got 48 (my goal when I first started speedrunning this game). It's come to the point where I can get sub-50 if even I'm drunk :p. Now it's all about competiting against myself and finally reaching that magic number 44. Edit 2: I'm 90% sure now that with current strats, the run will be 45:00.
