It seems to be an orchestra chief sheet music. It seems there's some harps, bongos and saxophones in this music and probably some other instruments.

If I played guitar I could print out this and give it to my guitar player, and be like, "OK, this is what we are going to play today! ;)

It's a joke obviously (not all the markings make sense), but are you sure you have access to the hosted image, in the sense that it doesn't suddenly turn into a goatse image without your consent or something like that?

The tempo changes from 2/half to 788/quarter at some point, there's 66:66, 1:66 and 66:1 at the same time, a F key on top of a G key, a 16384th note, 35 simultaneous notes across instruments, flats and sharps together next to the key, some silly comments, and so much more ... Haha, even if all that nonsense worked, most of it would sound so messed up that no one would be able to follow anything ... although I'd love to hear it anyway.

I once heard, that one of the great composers had once composed a symphony that could be played holding the notebook in either way: normally or upside down. Both had a melody that made sense.

It seems to be more than a joke than real music . If you check carefully in the URL I have posted above, you can see 1:21 that some keys had shaped in the upper right section. There's some silly comments like Acmlm said. In conclusion, I think those music sheets is an art for visualizing than for it's music. Expert at music should find it funny.

I KNEW it said something along the lines of "This is impossible!" at some point. It actually says "This is actually unplayable" on the second page (Which is why I initially couldn't find it at the board I first saw it on; they only put up the first page). Anyway, let me attempt to put my worthless minor in music to some use and shed some light on this. As mentioned by several people, this piece of music is obviously impossible to play (Besides the "1:21" that Phil mentioned, the notes spell out "HELP ME" on the second page). From what I can tell, however, it seems to take some late-Romantic period (The late 19th century or so) concepts to an extreme. To explain further, until the Romantic period, most instructions on sheet music were crude at best. You had the notes, obviously, and some approximate indication of tempo, but that was really it (All other interpretations were usually made by the conductor). As the Romantic Period went on, composers began to assume greater control of their music by writing more and more detailed instructions. Late in the Romantic period, Other composers started to parody this extreme attention to detail in their instructions (One piece mentioned that it should be done "With great difficulty", while another made reference to breathing...in a piano piece.). I think it's this parody concept which is taken to an extreme here.

I've heard that Bach wrote one that was the same forwards and backwards, and was a very great piece.

>I once heard, that one of the great composers had once composed a symphony that could be played holding the notebook in either way: normally or upside down. Both had a melody that made sense. Mozart. Actually it's better than that - you sit/stand two people on opposite sides of a table playing from the same sheet, one from the beginning to end, the other from end to beginning with all notes upside down - and the two melodies forms a duet which actually makes sense. Mozart also made a fugue (His only one in minor scale? I'm not sure) where the theme returns flipped upside down in the middle. Listen and see if you can make it out.

Found the inverted fugue if anyone's interested... Fuga (Allegro) in C minor, Köchel nr. 546. http://vspickelen.port5.com/Mozartfiles/Mozhard.htm It's midi converted to mp3, so it sounds kind of crap. *SPOILER* (if you want to find the inverted theme yourself) The inverted theme is first heard at 1:20 (I think... it's very, very nested), and the inverted and original theme plays at the same time at 2:47.
