I haven't found a way to do this effectively yet... I tried the disc swap deal with the linuzappz cdr plugin 1.4. 1. Press esc the instant the FMV starts. 2. Change the iso to Disc2. 3. Press Run and immediately press esc again. 4. Change the iso back to Disc1. 5. Press Run. Maybe its all about the timing? I've had times where the emulator crashes and other times when it skips the FMV but the graphics arent displayed properly afterward. (dialogue boxes are clear or solid black) I want to start work on my ff9 demo :( I'm guessing this has been covered before but I couldn't find anything relevant with the forum search feature.

PCSX seems to be buggy on some systems regarding CD changes. The CDR plugins don't always send the new CD-ROM ID inside the drive.
You're just fucking stupid, everyone hates you, sorry to tell you the truth. no one likes you, you're someone pretentious and TASes only to be on speed game, but don't have any hope, you won't get there.

A lot of games I want to run have FMV's. I may just include them.

it should be a rule, you must not skip FMV, it adds so much entertainment that way. And if it's a rule, no one will skip FMV and there won't be any competition with this.

But most FMVs are boring. And poorly scripted. Because video game directors are not (good) film directors.

Not to mention that they are mostly irrelevant as the player skips plot elements serving as keys to those FMVs. I, for one, would rather play the game to see it all, not watch a speedrun.

But isn't it cheating if you skip cutscenes that you couldn't skip on console? Wouldn't that make the times impossible to compare to real speed runs?

Real speedruns don't necessarily adhere to the same rules that TASes use; in many cases it is done to ensure authenticity, which is mostly inherent to our regular process of making/submitting/publishing movies. That being said, some unassisted runs do skip normally unskippable FMVs, see Diablo for a recent example.

My actual and first speedrun(suikoden2) should have only very few optimize movement, while I'm trying to test everything, etc... So, while I know that my speedrun should be destined to be obsolete... I was about to don't skip the FMV movies(I can skip them) in this game(except for the opening movie). In this game there less than 5 extra movie(and there only 15-30 second long), but they still entertaining. I would like to know, if a category like "Do not skip FMV movie to spare time"(or vice-versa) could be created. I'm sure that someone who like to have some entertaining will probably check out in this kind of category. Of course, if someone try to beat my speedrun and skip the FMV movie, the mine should become obselete... i'm just trying to provide some (descent) entertaining in this long rpg game.

My opinion: If I wanted to watch cutscenes, I would either watch a Let's Play or find the cutscenes by themselves on Youtube. I come here to watch the gameplay get destroyed, so skipping cutscenes whenever possible is greatly appreciated.
A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me.

As previously mentioned, most FMVs are not entertaining. In fact, as a fairly avid Suikoden II played I can say the FMVs are completely optional for watching even if you haven't seen them before, they're so throwaway. Concentrate on grazing those corners :p

Hum but it's easier to fastfoward the cutscene than to find every one of them on youtube no ?

It's kind of the other way around: let those who want to watch specific cutscenes find them themselves. No need to impose them on people who are looking for speedruns (that skip content whenever possible, anyway).

I see, that clarify some statement. I think the best way could be simply to post an attachement files(or youtube links) of theses FMV, with the submition.
