Sometimes people want to color part of the text in their post with the same color as the background as an anti-spoiler measure (so that in order to see the text you have to select it with the mouse), similarly to how it's customary eg. in the tvtropes wiki. The tvtropes wiki has a dedicated, easy-to-use syntax for this purpose. Here you have to carefully select a text color which matches the background color as well as possible (something made harder by the fact that the forum posts don't use a pure white background). I was thinking: How hard would it be to add support for a dedicated anti-spoiler tag to the forum posting format? This would simply automatically color the text with the same color as the background.

Not very hard I suppose. There might even be a dedicated phpbb patch for that somewhere. Find me one, I'll see if I can apply it.

I would recommend increasing the padding around the block of text (or perhaps giving it a slight border and making the background color slightly darker than a post) for readability reasons. Perhaps make it so if you click it, it stays in "visible" mode.

Feel free to extend upon this patch and provide to me. http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=366815

That requires dealing with PHPBB, of which I have no working setup and don't feel like digging up and installing; not worth that level of effort.

I'm on another forum where they use a button that someone has to press to uncover the spoiler imo it's a perfect system (and can also be used to hide large amounts of text (e.g..... a TAS route, a bunch of code, etc) example: http://forums.utassault.net/showpost.php?p=1517751&postcount=16 (in his sig) edit: oh and the syntax is just:
content
TASes: Mr. Nutz (SNES), Young Merlin 100% (SNES), Animaniacs 100% (SNES)
