In Potato's defense - that twist happens in the demo of Exit Fate, so its not really that surprising of a twist. The twists get better. I've already beaten it - its good, not 'Last Scenario' good, but still good. I think that the recruitment aspect forces too many characters into the plot line, and you end up not caring much for any of them. Whereas, Last Scenario, the 7 main characters and main boss are extremely well flushed out. Also, Daniel struck me as 'stupid' through the entire game.

Another great RPG with a lot of thought behind it. The only thing I don't like is the FFT-style battle minigame (because I suck at it). At one point in the game it just decides to stop being nice (and fair, for that matter) all together: Spoilers, highlight to see: (how do you make text invisible? The closest I can get to is white) The battle at Vanaheim (?), after you killed their emperor. You're outnumbered 2-to-1, which pretty much forces you to go on an assassination mission to kill the enemy commander. The only problem is, she's a fucking tank who refuses to die and can one-shot pretty much anyone in your group, even at half health. Also, sometimes she decides to be a bitch and sends her whole army out while staying behind the front lines. Even with my entire army as archers, I still can't kill her, and I'm about ready to either just give up or try and find more recruits. Edit: (more spoilers) I finally got past that battle and beat the game, but god damn that was ridiculous. The final boss and ending were abrupt and disappointing given all the buildup. The final boss's fingers didn't even damage my party (except for Rock) and the only thing that made it semi-challenging was the amount of HP he had. My all-star magic team pretty much steamrolled through the battle with no problems. I wonder if there's an Alexander-esque hard optional boss in this game. Is there anything worth noting in the chest that requires 75 men to open?

Atro- Return to The orphanage in Levier. Also, I got very lucky in the last FFT battle. The enemy commander made an extremely stupid move early, early on, and I won with only few casualties. I thought the plot in general was a let down, given how good LS was. Also, you can replay battles by visiting someone in your castle. All the chest gives you is the final one of those. Visit the somethingawful forums for pretty much every spoiler under the sun.

You have to use either of those tags: [ color=#DEE3E7] (for the posts on darker background) or [ color=#EFEFEF] (for the other posts). Just make sure to remove the extra space before 'color' and add the closing tags.

End game spoilers ahead: I got all 75 characters and then beat all the shadow opponents up through Shadow Yan Angwa. Is that the end of the secrets, or is there some super hidden holy-fuck boss somewhere (already fought the one on the spiritual plane)? Overall, while some of the bosses are quite challenging (the ice elemental in the forest who freezes your characters and kills them with no access to Melt or Restore, the demon commandos, the shadow clan leader, the optional spiritual plane boss, and of course the shadow opponents), most of the storyline bosses are easier than the storyline bosses in Last Scenario. There also hasn't really been a boss that's on par with the difficulty level of Alexander either (although Shadow Yan Angwa did come close).

In case anyone cares, the creator (SCF) posted in the SA thread about his plans for a new game: I've started working on something new, but it's not Exit Fate 2. I couldn't take doing another game with a massive cast like that right now. The new game will be completely original and be more of a spiritual successor to Last Scenario. There'll be another demo as soon as I get that far (it helps smooth out some issues and get feedback early on), but it'll take a while since I'm throwing out even more of the original RPGMaker game engine than in EF (for example, through some hackery I can now read keyboard input straight from the Windows API and bypass the awkward default system) He's quite the trooper. Just finished this game and already he's started on a new one. Also, I finally beat the extra optional boss in Last Scenario. Spoilers (highlight to see): To beat it with the minimal amount of grinding, you'll need the following: At least 3500 HP for each character. You can get Life Capsules from the Hydra in the Black Mausoleum. To speed it up, equip the Lure (get it at a Hex trading place), Thief Glove, Steal on all characters, and Party Hat on one of them. For the low Res characters like Hilbert, he'll need at least 3800 HP to survive Invertigo. Maxed strength for Matilda. This is optional, but it speeds up the battle, and you're going to be at the Black Mausoleum anyway, so you might as well hit up the Black Dragons for Strength Capsules. 3 Hard Hats and a Mountain Crest. This is so Planetary Nova, its strongest attack, will heal your party. You can get a Mountain Crest at Randipur, and you'll need 30 Mole Hunter tiles to trade in for the 3 Hard Hats. The fastest way to get them is to go to the Kohlen mine, equip the Hex Champ Medal, Lure, and Swing on your fastest character. Run from all battles except moles, and use Swing for instant victory. Intelligence/Mind Capsules from the enemy at the Hall of Judgment. This is also optional (I personally didn't do it, but it'll make your nuker more powerful and have more MP to use). 3 Warding Charms. To get a third one, trade in Selene(?)'s tile for two more. Trade in all the tiles that give good items. Although you can't get them back, you can make an alternate save afterwards. The noteworthy ones are: 8x Infernal Ash (around 5000 damage to all enemies), Sacral Gown (auto-Regen), sacred orbs, diamond dusts, soul elixirs, all the capsules, etc. Equip your lowest Res character with the Arch-Angel's Halo and the Mountain Crest. Everyone else gets a Warding Charm and a Hard Hat. For spellcards, equip the two fastest characters with Earthquake or X-Shield, and one of them with Stance and Fury (heal-all for 1000 HP without crisis, and you're all immune to Berserk). Give Enlight to someone as well. Your nuker should obviously be wearing the Lord-Sorceror's Gown. Have everyone's crisis ready. Use Invincibility, Slash, Nuke, and Infernal Ash. This should kill all the helpers on the first turn. Next turn, make sure to use Mega Shield/Bastion and Stance. Once you've killed the helpers twice, they won't come back. Then you have to deal with the battle carefully so no one dies. Here are his attacks: Planetary Nova: Heals your party. Invertigo: His most deadly attack, does a shitload of magical damage to one target. You shouldn't die with an M-Shield and full HP though. Grand Apocalypse: Does moderate damage to the party. Recover with Fury + Diamond Dust, or a Sacred Orb if your party members have low MP. Meteor Shower: Multi-hit attack, not very threatening. Breakdown: Physical attack to party. Recover with Fury + Diamond Dust. You must keep Bastion/Mega Shield on your party EVERY TURN. Not doing so is asking for trouble. Your two fastest characters should only use their crisis for Bastion/Mega Shield. One of them has Stance, so use that to build crisis quickly. With this safe-but-sure strategy, you're almost guaranteed to beat him, but it will take quite a while (at least 30 minutes). Damn, I type too much.

Wow, you're inhuman! :) Seriously, congrats on beating the thing, and thanks for the strategy.

I was going to say the same thing. I'm happy I looked back in this thread even if I already have Last Scenario, downloading Exit Fate now. From the screenshots it looks sweet and I'll give the author benefit of the doubt since LS was pretty good.

Going over Exit Fate's story, I can't help but try to piece together one of my favorite characters in the game, Yan Angwa. Here's my hypothesis as to what's up with him (spoilers - highlight to see): (there are a few optional tidbits about him, particularly the Shadow Yan Angwa fight and when you talk to Nashal at Elysium Castle) I think that many generations ago, Yan Angwa made a pact with a spirit named Chronos, who granted him reincarnation after death. After dying many, many times, now he just wants to rest, but Chronos won't let him. So he searches for a way to break the pact (aka his "research"), which leads him first to the real Yan Angwa (the group of scholars) and then to Daniel. Note that the first thing Yan Angwa asks Daniel before he joins the party is if he's the one being controlled by the Hand of Fate. Of course, this doesn't answer everything. There's still the issue of why he's using a fake name and refusing to identify himself. I have a feeling that his real identity has some level of significance to the overall story. Any thoughts?

Hey just wondering if I missed a few things. (Spoilers, highlight) I'm at the point where Erin and Jasper just joined me after going through the catacombs. I have 54/75 characters right now. There are 2 things bothering me that I'm trying to finish before moving on with the story but haven't been able to so I'm not certain it's me or the game won't let me yet. 1) I haven't been able to recruit Myst and it seems like if I could of for a long time now because he's been at his final experiment for a really long time. I'm not sure if I missed something obvious for the incredients he lists but if someone could PM me what they are that would be nice. I don't know what they are really, except the first 2 of them, I have the holy grail, restore, things to cure amnesia so I'm pretty sure I got those covered. 2) Fitch. I don't know about this one but it seemed like he should of joined me at the start, since he seems so generic =p. I can't find him anywhere even in the elf-town or anywhere else really... Just seems weird, usually you can find them even if you can't recruit them. All other things I have been able to finish... except getting Rainbow Ores for Darwin which I guess is later and getting access to the black market (I think) in Jargo. Oh, and finding a use for that 500 Arn poison I bought at the start of the game. I'm pretty sure I can't finish those yet though. I have access to Highland, Helman Island, Mayfall, Oishin, Avalon, Jargo Port, etc... I'm not certain but I believe I will start fighting Almega now.

If I remember correctly, Fitch just appears in your castle at some point, and talking to him makes him join you automatically.

Exit Fate Character recruiting spoilers Alright I gave up trying to recruit the last 5 characters on my own and I decided to use a guide. I didn't expect those characters... I was thinking I would be getting more storyline characters but I guess not, they just added characters to older towns. Anyways, I have 2 left : Myst + his revive. I checked the guide (http://www.indiefaqs.com/index.php/Exit_Fate), and I need to get a Charged Jet to finish this quest. He gives you one but for me that was early in the game and I'm close to the end now. Obviously, I've sold it. I'm looking for monsters that can drop it or have it stolen from. I tried pretty much every area I could think of with dark monsters... I'm still trying to get one from Wizards in the Vishnu Castle but I'm not even sure they drop them... If anyone knows, please let me know!
