If I had a proper VCR (or video card for my PC, hopefully somewhere around May 2005), then yes. I intend to do just that. I do have the USA versions of Wind Waker and the USA N64 Ocarina of Time (does the Gold Cartridge edition count?). I wish I had the N64 Majora's Mask though, but I hope the Gamecube version will do. I mean no offence or no harm when I say this, but I seen lots of mistakes on TSA's runs that can be perfected, like running against a couple of walls as to try and enter a door. But I'll hand it to him, he sure knows how to effectively use Deku Sticks on OoT (as it does deal 1.5 times more damage than the Kokiri Sword). I can't guarantee that I will make a flawless run, but I would try and beat his run by about 20 minutes (10 if I do mistakes myself).

You will never beat my new OoT run. I promise only a time attack will beat my final OoT run, which could be as low as 4:40, or 24 mins faster than my current run up. And if I wanted to...I could probably do better than that with semgents...cuz there are some strategies only logical in a segmented/time attack run that I know of now that are extremlely too difficulty to do in a SS. In secret, I've been practicing OoT a lot even while I do these other runs...and MM is a great follow into my OoT run I will do next. Don't mean to sound arrogant or rude, but OoT is the one game on this planet I will never relinquish so long as there is a breath in my body. And I will have it.

Hmmmm..... Didn't you say similar things about alttp O_O anyway, watched the entire Wind Waker run. Honestly I didn't enjoy the game, but your run of it was nice.

ALttP, I was beaten by tricks and route ammendments. The video was not better skill (except on the Kholdstare battle, but then he had a new strategy). I will admit, I am not the best at any other Zelda game. I am sure, in the end, somebody else will beat me in every other Zelda game in existance. However, I swear on my life I will not give up Ocarina of Time, and if I had to bet my life, it would be on Ocarina of Time and my ability, in the end, to hold the record for it.

Of all the 'newer' (3d) Zeldas, OoT is clearly the best one. By far. what do you think about Rerecording on N64?

I want to see an Ocarina of Time time attack the most of any game. I really hope you guys find a way to do one nicely, and I will lend all my help to it to see what it yields.

Let's go forward to a time when Gamecube emulators with frame advance, slowdown and rerecording, and you have been assigned to do the TAS for Wind Waker. So... Let's make a potential Wind Waker TAS route! I think that when GC emulators are available the route could be sub-6. The only major tricks I can think of @ the moment are: - Use the Moblin carry trick to speed through the road to Ganon's Tower. Using this allows you to gain enough speed to jump over huge gaps which usually require the Hookshot - Use the Tower of the Gods sequence break to skip the first two statues in said dungeon. - It's possible to get into the Wind Temple early but it's useless if we don't find a way to bypass the need of the Iron Boots in the Wind Temple. Other elements, such as pendant routes, will need to be fully optimized as well. Anyway, discuss.

Are the Triforce locations and item locations determined by whether or not you have a treasure map?

even if a route is found now, it's not going to last until the emulator is out.

I'm not sure. It would be awesome to go straight to Ganon's Castle right after getting the Grappling Hook and Fire/Ice arrows!

Sounds like Kings Bounty 2.

You'd still need to beat Forest Haven to have full access to the Great Sea. As for whether you can dredge up the pieces without the chart, I don't know. I'm thinking no, but I haven't really looked into WW that much. Also, first link is broken. Anyone got a video of the Moblin carry thing he's talking about?

I bet I can find out if you can get the triforce without the triforce charts, I'm going to play the game on two different files, find one triforce chart on one of the files, and use the other file for finding the shard. It might take a pretty long time though.

keep in mind the shards aren't always in the same location, so you might need to use a copied file for this. Also, it might be a good idea to try to figure out when the game sets the location of the pieces. As far as I know, it could be anywhere from file creation to when the map gets translated.

Yes. I've tested trying to pick up a chest without a map and it doesn't work. The barrier outside Ganon's Castle can't be bypassed, Fierce made a video a long time ago which proved that it's invisible barrier. There will probably be a lot of glitches and shortcuts which haven't been discovered yet, but they'll mostly be restricted to dungeons. Still, this game will be plagued with sailing and various dull stretches and I expect Twilight Princess will get all the attention in the long run.

Rolling is the fastest way to travel, with the exception of sailing and supersliding. When the Iron boots are equiped, sidehopping is surprisingly fast. When carrying stuff, sidehopping is faster than running, although there are exceptions. Supersliding could possibly have a use outside Ganon's Tower under the sea, although not by much if at all. I don't know of the SS working off anything other than Moblins. When normal sailing, you keep the max speedwithin 45 degrees of the winds direction, from what I have gathered. The speed gradually decreases as you angle and further. This removes the need for most wind changes in the game when used propely. When throwing the Grapple Hook, you can slide to the right at Hookshot Slide speeds while the hook is out. This can be used to get better swinging angles while waiting for the hook to grapple. One use is when you are opening up the door to DRC's (Dragon Roost Cavern) boss key path. Could also be used while collecting Joy Pendants... Right after realeasing the Grapple button, hold right, then hold L as long as you want to slide. Savewarping will be rampant, especially if you can save some time as you sail from quadrant to quadtrant. No use for deathwarping A huge question is Granny's Soup. It take over a minute to collect, but means double attack in the segments its used (bottle tiem glitch) until you take damage, and refilled HP / MP. A tas could really do a lot in the SL (Savage Labrynth), Hyrule Castle, and battle with Ganon... The sailing route, unless small savewarps at sea prove faster and need a different route, is largely all set, for the most part. I still need to finish the triforce collecting part. Collecting some charts before beating WT (Wind temple) could be useful, but the most it could possibly do is save 1 wind change, and other complications would arise, like item switching... That newfangled ET (Earth Temple) Mirror room glitch trick I fould recently may be TAS only, its awefully difficult to do faster than the previous route, if at all possible. The nuber of rupees you can get from behind the skipped statue will deside if its faster I think... The 2 useful 101 rupee tricks ar at A7 and E3, with E3 being fater. Both are at chart locations. Of the 3184 rupees needed, most would come from this trick (101 rupees every 30ish seconds iirc)...

A USB loader has recently come out for the Wii, it allows you to load ISOs off a USB storage device. Currently it only loads Wii games (though you can trick it into thinking GCN ISOs are Wii ISOs), what I'm getting at is do you guys think this could eventually have the tools incorporated to make GCN and Wii TAS's possible?
