i know... I manipulated as best as I could. Usin s boom uses less frames. however, because i didn't '' turn in circles'' to get my level higher, my main character is a little slow; he can't attack before the leeches

i need to redo it anyway. I realized I needed one more shaveice for the paladin battle in farmtown (i can do 8 pts of damage at most with an attack). This time, I will buy it in the dream world rather than guntz edit : using a shave ice (from the moment the text rises to the moment of the next turn) uses nearly 400 frames less than getting the best knuckles available (in a treasure chest in higfort)

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/312714841/Breath%20of%20Fire%20II%20%28U%29.smv back at the same point. I saved about 950 frames inside the queen; about 1600 frames shorter

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1816559550/Breath%20of%20Fire%20II%20%28U%29.smv just hoping on the great bird. I face a dilema : the battle against the paladin could be shorter if I attacked it for one round. But to do so, I would need better gloves... geting them in highfort is quite a detour, but it's the best pair available. Would the ones in simafort be sufficient? would it be worth it?

Clearly this is something you will need to test. However, as you mentioned earlier, it'd take nearly 400 frames to get the ones from highfort, so those are basically out of the running. The easiest way for you to test this would be to just go back to simafort, buy a pair, and then do the fight (with the getting them part unoptimized since it's for testing purposes). It's your choice on the matter, but given how frame hungry you are, it's worth checking out :P

first option eliminated. When i get eichichi (?), i'm almost 1k frames over. but for the second option, i realized it might be shorter if I bought the knuckles BEFORE the blue roaches... should I risk getting them then?

Well yes, getting them when you're at simafort is the logical idea. if you're at the shop section, that would be the time to buy them. However, that isn't what I meant. I meant test that the knuckles are worthwhile at all first (as in, stop tasing it properly, and get the knuckles, then tas the fight properly with them), before deciding to redo it all, only to find out they're not useful at all.

just curious : i rewatched your run. For some reason, when the games starts (after the youth intro), you are 100 frames ahead. Why?

If it isn't because the first battle is faster, then it's clearly because the game recognizes "Ryu" as the superior name and gives a frame discount for using it :P

anyway, I used the start of your run up to the harpies. after the fight (with my style), i saved nearly 400 frames

Are you sure that's ideal? Your method of avoiding fights seemed far smoother than the method I used, so I would suggest going from where you start(ed) doing things differently to how I did them in/after the town.

i think i worded it bad. I went up to the first cavern (after the first harpie dialogue). Now, i'm after the roach fight and I nearly saved 1k frames. Oh well, better me than someone else :P

only if i can get another lucky run among the roaches. But because my battle against terrapin should be shorter still, i don't think it will matter :P

jsut curious : how much did FF6 received for enternainment? Mine isn't as radical wrt finish off quickly... anyway, my fight against creon was terrible : 2,5 rounds! I hope I can recover it over terrapin. I guess getting a little defense helps sometimes

I just noticed equipment can be changed during battles... another 70 frames saved. I now have about 230 frames less than Atma's improved run, is should be at least 1,5k frames less than the last published run
