yeah, the input plugin is weird... I tried an USB controller and it worked in the configuration window, but failed ingame.

Yes, I tested some months ago, I think... I don't quite remember, but I think you needed it to pass the first warning screen. I don't know if you also needed it for doors.

I wont blame you, actually, you already did an amazing job, i could tas re3! :D Alltought, if i wasnt as much broken i am now, i would bounty pay whoever implement fm2 format for pcsx lol, this is the only thing i can think off that would slightly enhance the rerecording capicitys aside from cosmetic problems (display of hack keys and alike... not very important), even if it mean to have seperate states and memcard (witch isnt a trouble user side)

Did MGS actually require a disk swap without a memory card? All of the Final Fantasy games forced you to save, power the console off, and then put in the next disc. I think for those games, swapping discs may not work, so multiple movie files maybe required - I'm sure the rules would change to accommodate new technologies. However, if MGS is like you say, that is bizarre. Interesting, I never knew that it could even be done.

I just tested by myself on his run(from the wip) and that's very weird... after the battle, the top building and the helicopter explose and we got a "black screen of death" ... Does the original PCSX project could ever play thought this game despite been unable to save before disc swap?

Not in my experience with FFIX at least. Saving was certainly an option, but you weren't required to power down between transitions.

Chrono Cross was a saveless transition. In fact, you could get to the second disk prematurely through a different route in a newgame+.

Wow. This is all very interesting... Are we going to see a TAS that opens the cover, replaces the disc, and beats a totally different game halfway through? Or did something special have to happen with the game to keep the code running when the lid opens?

PCSX 0.0.7 had a few commands to simulate taking out a disc and replacing it. On one frame you could open the tray, prompting the emulator to change discs, then close it on the next frame. The problem with this is that it relies on the movie watcher having a reliable ISO hosting program that can seamlessly transition between two discs. I've been using Daemon Tools Lite, and I have yet to EVER get the disc-switch to work properly. What I'm saying is that I shouldn't HAVE to rely on something shaky, like Daemon or Magic ISO. The emulator itself should give you the option to go into the file folders and select a different ISO, instead of relying on these secondary hosts.

I thought it did something along those lines already. I remember when I did some bad hex editing of a movie header I ended up being endlessly prompted to insert the next disc by the emulator itself.

Were you using 0.0.9? I specifically remember 0.0.7 not having that feature; it relied on hosting the CD by ISO and you couldn't even select your INITIAL CD without hosting it.

The game expects you to open the lid at that point, so its current state is saved in the RAM while you change discs. Opening the lid does not reset the game; since it just holds a data disc there is no reason to cause a reset. The stuff in the RAM is also able to know whether the correct disc is put in or not, so there's no way to play another game half way through. If you open the lid while a game is not expecting it to, it will probably ask you to keep the disc in there and close the lid. I suppose older games just decided to be lazy and require a save and reset before putting the new disc in instead of allowing the change to happen without resetting.

I'm only interested in Valkyrie Profile, but that game seems to have too many issues to be worth running right now. I can only get the game to work at all by using SPUasync with the "wait for CPU action" option, and the voices don't work with that. In fact, they're replaced with these horrible noises that would singlehandedly ruin any movie. And on top of that, there's the disc-changing issue already brought up. Am I missing anything here?

It already supports "multiple CD switching", though it doesn't seem to work very well. :D I think for v0.1.0, I (or anyone else) should use PCSX-R, since that version already has built-in ISO loading and disc switching. We should call it PCSX-RRR v0.1. Or... Maybe this time the next version of pSX is about to be released for real, since a few days ago pSX Author appeared again on his forums, after a couple of years of no one knowing anything about him:

For some reason when I was play Xenogears. Everything is functions normaly, but after the anime opening occour a fatal erron on explore and the emulador close. Why this happened? I use the basic graphics configurations. I tested the same ISO in another emulator named PSXFIN and worked well. But this emulator dont have Re-Rec options. Anyone can help me?
