I've been converting all your FCM's for fceux 2.02 and it's been working perfectly for me. Just FYI buddy. Love the run so far, can't wait to see the final product on this game, I've been waiting a while for someone familiar with this game to TAS it. I had it when I was little but could never beat it or get very far, haha.

There IS an edit button. You don't have to keep deleting your post.

BTW, I tried it and had two problems: (1) a post would get locked (even if a moderator never touched it) and I can't do anything about it and (2), the Edit button would sometimes turn a successful edit into a double-post. Moving on...

Project is near complete. So far, I already pulled at least 13 minutes off my first draft. But may I please have my account name changed to p0rtal_0f_rain?! I seek to submit this run under that name. And from there on, I promise that I won't ever ask for another account name change for a while. Please! Meanwhile, for me though, I got a lot to write about this run. :) Thanx so far!

Okay, my run has been optimized. I stopped at 1'10:51.05 which seemed to be an improvement of 13 minutes and 19 seconds. I wanted to submit this under a new screen name! I begged! I asked as nice as I could! I even promised that I won't ask for another name change for a while! But things got out of hand between myself and at least one other administrator that was too lazy and didn't seem to do his job promptly. For that, it has came to my decision to not submit this to Workbench, remove all my WIP download links in this thread, step back for a while, and NOT ever come back under this exact same account again. I already gave the admin my notice to be completely deleted. I already asked nicely, now I demand. Thanks to all my viewers and other fellow regulars for sharing opinions, watching movies, trying out games, and being part of this great site. I'll return, but within the next few months or so, this isn't the time. Game over, I'm gone.

Why on Earth did you want to submit it under a different name?! Is the Earth going to end otherwise?

Or maybe you shouldn't have begged and harassed and gotten out of hand?

Wow... this is truly disheartening. Ah well, thankfully I am sure others have downloaded the WIP's you've posted so it won't be hard for someone to use that as a template and improve this run on their own accord. That and all the other info provided will ensure that. Too bad the account won't be deleted though, as that'd make an absolute mess of the forums.. and that just isn't a good idea for such an active community. Pity.. this was turning into an interesting run.. minus this whole editting all of your posts out of existence and the calling me a Bill O'Reilly wannabe via PM [after vowing to never come back under that account again] of course. Wow, I just stumbled upon this, and can't believe the immaturity of your actions. You ask for a name change, get it, then ask for another one, and when you're not immediately given it, you create a new account and delete anything of substance from your prior posts from your other account? I hope that Bisqwit revives all the data that you so selfishly deleted and gives you a good, long ban for your childish and ridiculous actions. How pathetic.

Pasky13, would you be able to upload one of the final .fm2s you converted and post the link here, so that the information that pixelgoround/symbolicX/portalofrain contributed isn't lost due to his childish behavior?

I removed my incomplete movie links because they were mostly related to my first draft and that they would point other players in the wrong direction. After days of work and optimizing, this a true movie and it's all you need: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/504776019/willow-p0rtal_0f_rain.fcm The public: I deeply apologize for all my recent disrespect. I know it's been pretty hard to push around and be pushed around mentally. But if that's one way of how people deal with everyday reality and responsibility, only the strongest would pull it off while the weak gets nowhere and I learned more than just that.

Okay, now I present a challenge. How long will it take to have items:100% (all weapons, shields, magic spells, and treasure chests), aim for maximum score (99,990 exp), and beat the whole game?! Of course, it will take more time to play around with white ghosts to say the least. The question is, would all this be acceptable? Or would this be more boring?! I'm just coming up with ideas on ways of playing this game.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/875465934/WillowSkipLongSwordProofOfConcept.fm2 Unless I'm missing something, the first sword isn't required. This is just a proof of concept, it's pretty terribly optimized. In particular the Snake Monster skips can probably be far better optimized, and just about all movement is good enough so it doesn't look completely sloppy, but I cut a lot of corners wrong, and if you walk diagonally into a corner it slows you down. This movie is approximately 3000 frames faster up to the gold statue.

That will take a lot of practice then. I might just come up with another run, but there's hardly anyone looking to come up with one, too. I'll remember this if I ever want to try it again. I understand what you got, but it is a strategic concern because Willow has not leveled up to 2 yet and he only has 24 hp on him. He has to be armed with something if he wants to progress through the game. How did luck and strategy manipulation go?

You can pick up the sword in the first cave, it's much closer to path. I was able to effectively manipulate the luck with no theoretical decrease of speed by walking into the room on a different frame (I had to walk diagonally at some point anyway, so I walked part of the path diagonally before the room to manipulate luck.) The enemies seem to knock you in the direction of their movement. Willow would not need to be level two, I don't think, to defeat the first boss.

You may be right about that, but Willow's STR is lower on LV 1 than LV 2 so it could take longer. We sacrifice the number of frames between "visiting with Vohnkar" vs. "the duel against Bogarda on LV 1." To say the least, though, Willow can increase 3 levels if he chooses to have at least 10 ex on LV 1 because as I said before, Bogarda awards 700 ex.

STR - Strength determines how much damage Willow will inflict upon an opponent when attacking. This depends completely on which sword he is using; with no Weapon equipped, Willow's Strength will be reduced to 0. The Ring, which raises Strength by 10, does not apply unless a Weapon is equipped.

I'm aware of that, too. But if your goal is to try to be as minimal as possible when tearing through the game, you have to skip that. Getting the ring may help, but it requires more walking distance. I'm sure it's in Bogarda's cave. BTW, I already used information from that exact same website for the drafts and WIP's I came up with.

As in, level doesn't matter when it comes to STR and hence the amount of time it takes to kill Bogarda at level 1 vs level 2 should be nil. But even if that FAQ is wrong, (which it might be!) I doubt the amount of time required to get the first sword from Vohnkar and collect 150 exp is less than the extra frames required to defeat Bogarda.

Okay, another plan because I think your pathway straight to the Gold Statue made more sense than getting the sword from Vohnkar. My next goal would be to go straight to the Gold Statue chest, use death to go back to Dew, go into Bogarda's cave to get the Battle Sword, and then manipulate random encounters to where Willow can get 150 ex. as quick as possible - of course, some enemies in the cave can give away 20 ex. a piece so leveling up shouldn't take too long. Finally, pin Bogarda against the wall for 700 more ex. Great minds think alike, eh?! :) I'll give it a shot soon but not now-now.

Another thing I am willing to study. This has to do with replenishing HP/MP in various resting places of the game. Some resting places take more frames for displaying messages than others, so another goal I am willing to take into consideration, for a better chance at improvement, is replenishing at a place that takes up the lowest number of frames.

Okay, now I am back on the hunt! A third draft (hopefully the last one) is on the go! So far as I started going to see Bogarda, I did some comparison of Willow's STR ability based upon the sword he's holding and the level he was on: LV 2, Long Sword on hand, Battle Sword (we'll just say "skipped") -- 7 LV 1, Long Sword skipped, Battle Sword on hand -- 20 7 and 20 is a huge difference when anyone talks about Willow's STR ability, so not only that this conserves more frames, but also gives a decent fighting advantage. Now, there is a cheap-shot part of the game where Willow's STR does not rise greatly as he levels up. In this first WIP of the 3rd draft I present to you guys, Willow's STR was 20 on LV 1 just by holding the Battle Sword. After defeating Bogarda and shooting up to LV 4 with 710 ex, his STR was 23. Why did the game only give Willow 3 STR points just for being promoted 3 levels?! Come on, CRAPCOM! I give you guys credit for making Rockman a true icon for video gaming, however, even Square Enix can make their RPG characters a lot stronger than you guys would with Willow!?!! =/ 3rd draft V1 (to Bogarda's defeat)
