Got second spirit, Efreet (4:10): http://www.freewebs.com/suklaalevy/files/loo2.ymv Sorry for noncompressed file. (Free)Webs sometimes breaks smaller files and Microstorage doesn't support newer gamefiles yet. For some reason the movie desynchs at 9000 frames when it's played for first time. On second time it works. Can someone confirm this movie works? About running Just like in the prequel on SG you begin to skid when you run for certain amount of frames. In this case 11 frames (animation). The skidding takes 22 frames, so it has to be avoided. The optimal way is to run to a wall or object which will stop you. The other way is to run 11 frames, pause for one frame and continue running.

Any chance of putting some Youtube encodes up or something?

Awesome. I wont be able to work on this until I get a new PC, I'm in the process of saving up at the minute. For now I'll just follow the progress of the run :-)

I have to ask you if it's entertaining to take damage when it doesn't slow you down (running to flames in Spirit rooms)? When you take damage and heal, your rank goes up and hp and mp increases. Hp increasement is not needed but the mp growth is somewhat significant (1st rank up from 115 to 130) and somewhere it could save time. You can keep your spirit summoned for a longer time without sacrificing frames to item hunting for example. I'd go without taking excessive damage, even if it will possibly slow you down somewhere.

I would be inclined to level up Rank as much as possible, mainly for the MP increase. If it is faster to take damage, then I would do so. Plus this means you need to do less MP recharging or manipulating MP-restoring item drops. Besides it can look more badass if you finish a boss with minimal HP :-)

Sorry, I was wrong about MP gain on rank up. MP goes up by 15 after each spirit, not by ranking up. Spirit gems also give 5 MP which is not enough for this run. No need to take extra damage, yes! Btw, Toothache. If I manage to finish this run, will you do 100% item when you get a new computer?

Ideally, a quality TAS would rank up as little as possible, since ranking up is basically a measure of how much you have to heal. The lower your rank when you finally beat the game the better.

Ranking up also comes from restoring MP, not just restoring HP. It would help in several places having a larger pool of MP to summon your allies with, cos it does run out reasonably fast. But yes, the faster you get through the game the lower rank you will inevitably have. I could start work on a plan for 100% run. What would define 100% anyway? I would assume the following would at least count: All weapon upgrades All scrolls for various weapon-based powers All gemstones Maximum rank?

A 100% run would have you not increasing your rank at all. Read through some of the FAQs. There are ways to make sure you rank up as little as possible, among them never fully refilling your life.

Wow, I checked GameFAQs and it will be quite a job to get all 60 scrolls and 42 gems. In my run only a fraction of scrolls are needed.

Up to the beginning of 5th shrine (~14:54). http://www.freewebs.com/suklaalevy/files/loo-wip-brass.rar Playing movie with default settings on 2363 version results sometimes in a desynch, but when I check Auto Lag Advance on and Auto-frameskip / Throttle off, it _never_ desynchs. Still, I get a desynch when I record an AVI (after leaving Brass' shrine). I'll put this on hold until Toothache tests this with his new comp.[/i]
