Shouldn't happen at identical settings.
It did... everytime, and just for rar (i tested several times, to see if i was too much stone or something...)

I can't reproduce this… bug? There might be some things to check. Are you using Windows XP? It doesn't always update the file size in Explorer correctly (you need to check using file properties dialog or compare checksums).

Im not realy whilling to bother more than i did, lets say its my fault for weird size changing rars, it still beaten up by very far regardless this Now of course this is the "extrem" case with desert bus, warp showed on a more "classic" movie its not that much a difference

I'm not sure what parts of the Internet sixofour frequents (maybe porn-sharing forums where split RARs are popular), but I see zips all the time (7zip is less common, and bz2 is mostly for Linux apps). I'm getting the increasing impression from this and other threads that sixofour is an idiot and/or a troll.

Now, the real good test (extreme test at least...) is with desert bus...
I don't think it's a good test because it's an extremely atypical movie, in both size and contents. Any result you get does not necessarily represent what would happen with the actual movies published here. (Btw, why do you insist in using "o" instead of "B"? You are the only person I have ever seen using that, and it's really confusing. It seems to be confusing even for yourself, given your "definition" of "o". What's wrong with "kB"?)

Because my (french..) system speak in octets, its not obvious to you ?... like you would suggest i take the hassle to speak in octet... for the sake of been an ass? And yes it was a good test, because it demonstrate what happen in a big movie, where obviously what is needed is to save space That why i also underlined than in a common case theres not much difference, like you did tested The only benefit i see from putting 7zip is on huge files, you demonstrated its not realy needed for common movies, with 7zip it fit better for movies like desert bus Note: im not saying whe need 7zip anyway, i dont think whe do, but to the question "why whe would even take 7zip", desert bus would be the "best" exemple since whe are just in a "space" storage debate

Well, desert bus is long, but also very repetitive. There is no variation in the input, just hitting left for a frame fairly regularly and then start every couple of hours... so yes, that and 1 button rampage are the "perfect" candidates for super compression.

Absolute nonsense. Almost everyone still uses .zip, I suppose mainly because Windows XP onwards have supported Zip files natively as folders.

I'm honestly surprised that you don't use "o"; then again maybe it's only common where Romance languages are spoken.

Believe it or not, but as soon as i mentionned XP having zip integrated (on IRC...), his first reflex was to go on check on the #windows channel i wasnt lieing ... almost like he had to check my ip to be sure im not charles1q2w (the bench troll whe saw 2 days ago)... or that someone else need to make the test back with 7zip and desert bus... paranoid :/ Anyway wiki is a lie, toyota win... but whatever

I checked your IP because you act and sound like that charles guy. It wasn't paranoia. It was investigation.

As far as I know, it's used only in France. I remember with a smile, however, the old floppy disk packs from IBM, labeled 720kB/720ko

hah, I was curious about that too... I thought it was megaonions or something! I forgot that french guys use the term "octets".

would be nice to have an alternative compression format as an option rather than replacing zip it would also help by offering a smaller download of the same file in cases such as this run: alden-Desert%20Bus.gmv.bz2 (40.4 KB) bzip2 took a while to compress though

Actually if you use maximum compression, the file compresses to 39560 bytes (38.6 kB).

This is one of those things that, for me, falls under "Don't fix what ain't broke". Movies are, on average, what, 10K zipped? Maybe 50K? They're not exactly large. And certainly not enough so to bother with adding yet more code to the site.
