Submission Text Full Submission Page
This version abuses the clock-stopping glitch. This glitch stops the clock (obviously) allowing a faster game clock time. However, this result is slower in real time. Therefore, this run achieves the absolute fastest possible game clock time, at the expense of real time.
This version is 30 seconds (in real time) faster than my previous run
  • some due to manipulating when opponents get up
  • a few frames from faster game clock times
  • mostly from improving the fights while the clock is stopped
The following cs times were improved:
  • Soda Popinski, ver 1 - 0:32.48, ver 2 - 0:31.82
  • Macho Man, ver 1 - 0:35.97, ver 2 - 0:35.82
In addition the following non-cs times were improved:
  • Piston Honda 1, ver 1 - 0:40.82, ver 2 - 0:40.25
  • Mr. Sandman, ver 1 - 2:19.25, ver 2 - 2:19.00

Summary

  • Uses FCEU 0.98.12
  • no warps or passwords
  • takes damage to save time
  • Heavy luck manipulation
  • Abuses programming errors in the game
  • Aims for fastest game clock time
  • Aims for fastest real time as secondary goal
Enjoy!

Voting no for this one because I just don't think the CS glitch is any fun to watch and it doesn't make things go any faster - rather the other way around.

That grue has an iron stomach. It even likes old, rotting submissions! I'm impressed, grue. Very impressed.

By special request on IRC, here's an encode of this submission: http://www.archive.org/download/NesMikeTysonsPunch-outclockStopIn1928.4ByAdelikat/miketysonpunchout-tas-clockstop-adelikat.mp4 As this was encoded with lossless video, you'll need to wait for archive.org to derive its 512kb MP4 to stream this. Once that's done, I'll post a link to the stream. EDIT: Here's the stream: http://www.zexsoft.com/aktan/?NesMikeTysonsPunch-outclockStopIn1928.4ByAdelikat/miketysonpunchout-tas-clockstop-adelikat_512kb
