I'm around indeed :). ElectroSpecter took over this run awhile ago, but he is quite busy during the days. I haven't talked to him for a long time. The run has been remade at least. Not sure how far he has reached... Not sure when, if, a new WIP is coming.

I really prefer 100% (well 105 in this case) runs over "fastest possible" runs. I mean all the Sonic Advance runs get 0 emeralds, which is disappointing.

Hi all. I've been toying with continuing the run, but it's a lot of work. I would really like to see it completed as well...

Nice to hear from you, finally! How have you been? If you need my assistance, I'll gladly help you out with it. As I'm not currently focusing that much on a project anyway.

You can start off by watching the old WIP posted in this topic. Also contact Electrospecter about this.

105% is the max. You get 103% if you play through the game normally, visiting all the bonus aresas. 1% is added if you avoid all the check point barrels and 1% if you play on the hardest difficulty, TUFST. This removes most of the DK-barrels in the game as well as the check point barrels.

so i need to get all the DK coins bonus rooms, does it have anything to do with those stupid banana birds? and all the "trading that needs to be done"?

Yes, you also need all the Banana Birds, and as part of that you need to do almost all the bartering. I think the only thing you don't need to do is buy the mirror back from Barter.

You can watch the old 105% at SDA for reference. http://speeddemosarchive.com/DonkeyKongCountry3.html Even though the run quality is quite outdated, it still shows you what you need to do.

Some codes, such as the ones that makes you play a harder difficulty, are allowed. So don't you worry about that :). But still: Before you begin a run of this, send ElectroSpecter a PM.

Yeah, there's a difference between codes input from some external source like a game genie, and built in codes (including level select codes, in theory, but those don't tend to make for very good runs ;) )

is it quicker to do all the levels first, then do the bartering, or do it as i go along?

Alright, I'm looking forward to see it. I'm also hoping to see Electrospecter online so I can talk to him about this. He did remake what we had done on the run, and I don't know how far he has reached. But I'm going to compare your run with what I've seen of it at least.

You only used TUFST as a code, don't you need to use HARDR too? Sorry if I'm wrong, but I guess you will not finish with 105% this way. EDIT: Never mind, HARDR means harder and TUFST means toughest... I hope you can do it, 'cause I love the DKC games, good luck.
I am old enough to know better, but not enough to do it.

You lost three frames up to the first bonus, another 9 to the second and 12 in the second bonus. Even though it's very hard to manipulate the green bananas, it is sometimes possible. First level is 37 slower at least. And I believe ElectroSpecter restarted the run and optimized some stuff even further, as we didn't use a proper speed address before. Nice going at least. Try to see if you can improve that first level.

My current WIP for the first level is 63 frames faster. You did well, but you should definitely watch the memory addresses if you want to save time. Unfortunately, like you mentioned, the green banana bonuses can royally mess up the run. Anyway, I have a list for gocha's memory watcher:
