What are some good runs to do for beginners? I'm more intermediate, but I would like a game not so hard, but somewhat well known. Thanks everyone.

straight foward plataform games without item catching are the easiest you can try, i think.

I'm not sure. I always liked the Lolo series because everything moves in 8-pixel increments, so there's less frame-by-frame stuff you have to do. Generally speaking, though, I think item management is a big factor in the difficulty of a game. That's one of the reasons I tried Totally Rad/Magic John for my first action game time attack: I didn't have to worry about picking up any items. Also, any kind of randomness will make a speed run harder to perfect, since there are many ways to affect a random event, and you may have to test all the possibilities.

Flashback for SNES ('cause I did the Genesis version). No pixel-perfect manuevering required, very few frame-specific commands (repeated rolling, mostly) just good old planning and experimentation.

The Ninja Gaiden games all seem to have almost no luck factors, and item management is generally quite simple (mostly jump 'n slash in 1, fire wheel in 2, and vacuum wave in 3). They've already been done very well, though. =/ Vice is another one along similar lines, but I plan on improving that one sometime... -Josh
but then you take my 75 perchance chance of winning, if we was to go one-on-one, and then add 66 and two-thirds ch...percents...i got a 141 and two-thirds chance of winning at sacrifice

I'd suggest "Out to Lunch" (SNES) as being a really easy game to time attack. That being said (despite suggesting a game that almost nobody knows about), I think the easiest games to run are ones you personally are already familiar with. Uh, unless they're really long. (That's a problem for me since I mostly play RPGs.)

I'd say Burger time for NES. That should be easy. Or perhaps Wrecking crew, also NES.

hmm wrecking crew and kirby's dream course require planning... rolling thunder it just hold forward and dont die. (this game could be done 2 players though, so many its better to do the nes version)
