I found an obscure game on the Gb called Itchy & Scratchy - Minature Golf Madness (U) Basically it's a 2D platform golf game and there is only 18 levels.

Just letting you know that our team is ready. The 4 of us are participating. We are the Trunky Mofos (Mighty Tasing Trunky Mofos, you can sing it to power rangers theme if you want). Is the other team ready too? If anyone else wants to participate post your name here, it's still open for a third team (or some rearrangement, perhaps).

It's ok, but maybe you can work on it on your own or something and then share what you've come up with. Anyway, the team name can't change, even if you can't play :)

I'm not going to have reliable access to a computer until the weekend, which means I can only start testing the nominated games then. Sign up will still close on the friday, but i will give the name out on the Monday. This also allows you the ability to cram TAS on the weekend before the due date. All the other rules still apply.

I'm ready, but expect me to be gone from today until monday. Shouldn't be a problem if the game is announced on monday anyway. The ways to contact each other in my team seem still a little uncertain and arguable. I'll be on IRC most of the time, and I can be contacted via private messaging.

Allright, I have a problem. Dammit just signed up and he doesn't have a team. This means I'm going to have to split the existing two teams up into three teams of three. If anyone has any problems with the way the tams have been rearranged, PM me, and I'll try to cooperate. Truncated Kyman FODA Cpadolf MUGG TheRandomPieIV dammit Randil moozooh mz These are the teams. I picked one person from teams 1 and 2 randomly to make up the rest of team 3. Sorry for any inconvenience EDIT: For anyone still making game nominations, I'm loloking for the following
  • Must be emulated correctly and playable by all team members, for obvious reasons. This rules out any PSX game because good iso's are hard to come by and are extremely large downloads. I'm okay with games on other emulators as long as the rom is not excessively large and the emulator is stable for all
  • It must be short. It must be under 20 mins depending on the complexity of the game. The game should be able to be completed in one week by three team members whithin reasonable expectations.
  • The game must be suitable for a TAS. Bad game choices like autoscrollers and generally crap games won't be accepted by the site, and they won't get accepted by me.
  • The game should not have a run on TASvideos and if you are participating, don't tell me that you have tased this game before. I want everyone with an equal footing as soon as the competition starts. Also, I don't want to hear about well known games without a run. I'm looking for hidden gems, not obvious choices.
  • The game should be awesome. I'm going to watch all of the submitted movies and I don't want it to be a waste of my time.

Alright, sorry to see moozooh part, but I like having 3 teams. Your game choice recomendations are very restrictive, I hope you can find a game that meets most of those guidelines.

Very sad not to have time to participate (in this one!) but watching with interest and looking forward to future such contests! Let's have a clean fight!

The game choices aren't that restrictive. The first 2 are basically moozooh's guidelines and the third fourth and fifth guidelines are basically to say that ther has to be some form of competition. Most badly made games will be completed whithin similar times, and be boring to watch. I'm not going to accept autoscrollers because then there will be little or no competition, and the "hidden gems" guideline is so that no-one has an unfair advantage. If I think that there is going to be sufficient competition between the teams I am willing to ignore the last three guidelines EDIT: I have added mz to team 3.

moozooh texted me, he has had connection problems since Friday. He will participate if/when he comes online again. Perhaps it's is good that that team has 4 players then...

Okay, here we go.. The official start time is 8:57 GMT +8:00 monday, 28th of September. the end time is one week from now. Before we start, you have to play the game on the hardest difficulty. not doing so will result in automatic disqualification. The game name is... Ranger X Rom name is Ranger-X (U)[!].bin And the platform is: SEGA genesis MD5: 4E8A318BA7F70B42816FBDAFD2624BEF Good luck! Thanks to Darkkobold who suggested this. Ranger X is an awesome game about a mech and his vehicle shooting down waves of mechanical enemies. You complete levels by killing a certain number of enemies. I think this will really test your TASing abilities, so let me say this again; Good luck! I would also like to thank these people for also suggesting awesome games. IMO, the following games were great and should have runs proptly done, but I had to chose one game: Derakon: Cocoron (nes). This is a chose your own protagonst game, which leaves this open for many possibilities. Aqfaq: Rolo to the rescue (genesis). Fast paced and excellent. FODA: The fantastic adventures of dizzy (nes). Intense route planning here, and also stars humpty dumpty. Truncated: Alien Hominid (gba). very intersting game to play and watch. Kirkq: james bond 007 (gb). zelda style james bond. These aren't all of the nominations, but these were the ones I think stood out from the crowd. Just in case, at any stage you think your team can't finish by the deadline. post on the forums. If all three teams reach a unanimous agreement that the deadline should be extended, I will extend the deadline another week.

Oh, I should've thought to nominate Ranger X! Excellent choice, and I look forward to seeing the results. One quick note to make certain nobody gets stymied: on the hardest difficulty, some floating platforms are removed from the tower level. This makes one of the ascents seemingly impossible, but if you crouch before jumping, then you get a little extra height. This isn't documented in-game, obvious, or stated in any of the GameFAQs articles that I read, so I think it's fair to mention it.

Actually, there was a test run of ranger x done a while ago and it seems that you can ascend infinitely without overheating if you tap up in a certain way (hint: watch the test run)

Okay, fair enough. Still, anyone who saw the nomination and wants to try playing the game normally now won't have to get stuck if they try Hard mode. :)

Hello everyone. My team, which at the moment seems to consist of only me, has decided to forfeit this competition. TheRandomPie was nice enough to tell me how we were doing compared to them (200 frames behind). While it could possibly be finished on time, it is not worth sacrificing a night's sleep for if we are still going to lose. The last levels would also have to be played less precise to make it in time. andymac has our last movie attempt, he will make it public when the competition ends. I am looking forward to seeing the other two teams' movies. I would like to give a big thanks to Cardboard and Baxter for helping me out when my team members went missing, and giving this an honest try. You guys are awesome! ------ Comments for future competitions: - Set the starting date in stone well before the competition starts. For me it was a problem that this started two days late. I had more time last weekend than this one (which I knew beforehand). - If I do this again, I will form my own team. There could still be a pool of people who are randomly grouped into teams, of course. - Don't announce game info in the topic after the competition has started. - The rules were good and clearly stated. - The game choice was very good.

That sort of information shouldn't really be traded between teams, it will likely cause the other teams to abandon or improve areas again.

Maybe not. I would not have traded such information if things had gone according to plan. It was nice to know so I didn't have to pull two all-nighters in vain. If we had been ahead by decent amount, I might have put in the hours needed. Also:

I had terrible luck having time to work on the movie this whole week. Besides my normal job there were other errands to take after work, and on thursday night my keyboard broke. So I bought a new one yesterday. But when I woke up this morning windows wouldn't start. I had to reinstall everything, and now I'm here. It's sad to see it go like that : / I'm eager to see the other team's results.

I want to be in the same team as Truncated next time, and that time, I'll be around from the beginning.

Maybe a team Sweden (Cardboard, Truncated, Randil and Adolf) vs team US or something similar :)

Just to let you know, that in half an hour, you will have 11 hours left to finish your TAS. Just so that there's not confusion as to any time differences between countries.
