I know there's an NES tom and jerry that has been speedran, but not the GBC version. I would like to see or make a run of this. As I am occupied by my Pokemon Red speedrun, I will not be making a run any time soon. However, I think this would be an interesting run. One reason is that Jerry doesn't accelerate in midair, unlike some other games. Another is that this game is simply a side-scroller similar to Mario, and everyone loves Mario! There are some shortcuts and easter eggs, which could be abused to an interesting level.[/quote]

It looks pretty good. Good job on it becoming a movie!

Curses! Rridgway discovered a bug in this game where pressing left+right at the same time accelerates Jerry to top speed instantly. Also, if he hits a wall he turns around instantly. I hate to add another run to the list, but I think this could be improved by about 10 seconds if anyone wants a go at it...

He (and me) is not the only who should stop spamming.

I've managed to find a lot more improvements than I expected. I found a few places for improvement in level 1 and improved it exactly 60 frames (This game has a 60-frame rule akin to Mario's 21-frame rule).

On second thought, it's not 60 frames. There is some sort of rule, but not one based on seconds. On another note, the game lags a lot. I found in one place that with 2 routes that differed only vertically, there was a 10-frame difference in time. So I'll look to cut down on lag. No WIPs, I think I'll just hammer this out in 2 days. It REALLY bugs me to see one of my runs this unoptimized.

It seems the RNG is much more complex than I expected, and has a great deal of effect on the couches in level 4. It seems that by luck, my current run has optimized these couches. My best run now loses so much time on level 4, I think I'll just let the current run stay up.

Bump. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1735137536/Tom%20and%20Jerry%20%28U%29.vbm The above is a 122 frame improvement of level 1 compared to the current published run. Improvements are general optimization and abuse of left + right and jumping to maintain my speed at 448 (instead of oscillating between 428 and 448). I might go through with this, but I'm not too sure.
