So I'm completely new to TAS and I already have a question. I'm using Visualboyadvance btw. Everytime I start the recording I can't undo any button sequences. If I load a savestate the button sequence just goes on and doesn't go back to that point. So when I play it back I usually keep running into a wall or something. The rewind function has the same problem. So what should I do?

when you load your video, make sure its not in read only mode. WHen you go to play a movie, make sure that READ ONLY is UNCHECKED. there will be a box next to it. Play your movie, load a savaestate and it should be fine. otherwise that your facing a desync, and there is nothing your could do about that

You need a special rerecording version of VBA. It's available for download in the "Visual Boy Advance" section of these forums.

Finally! I didn't know I needed to download a modified version of VBA! So I downloaded VBA22 and figured out that I can't load savestates that weren't made during the recording. So the original problem is gone! Anyway I have a new problem, When I boot up VBA22 and I try to load a savestate, it freezes. So how do I fix that D:

I'm not sure if save states translate between the version you were using and the version you are now using. If the savestate is not in the movie you're recording, don't load it unless you turn off the movie. All savestates made within the movie are sort of "attached" to the movie. It takes a bit of getting used to. Make sure you backup your progress often or you might accidentally overwrite it while getting used to how it works. If those first two points don't solve your problem, could you elaborate a bit more on exactly what you are trying to do?

I just boot up VBA22, load a savestate and it freezes. And this is not while recording a movie. Anyway I figured out that I can only load savestates made in VBA22 while in VBA22, but why does it just freeze when I try to load a savestate from the old VBA to the new one? Can't it give me an error message like when I try to load a savestate from the new one to the old one? Anyway I think I understand it, I'd better remember which savestates I made where.
