Meh vote. While there were some interesting glitches used, most of the level designs and sprite changes just seemed ugly to me. There is some entertainment value here, but the rest of the game, especially in Wily 2 and 3, just bored me

It really doesn't look like that good of a hack. Sprite flicker is pretty horrible in some spots. Meh vote.

This was more of the same stuff of Mega Man 2, but that isn't a bad thing. I enjoyed it, yes vote.

Will you be submitting this speedrun to TASVideos?... Also, this is also a rather awkward place to announce that you've made a TAS, can I suggest inside the NES forum instead next time?

We have no problem with an author submitting multiple movies, notable examples are maTO and Ryuto (If I recall correctly). Though, the run still should be completely optimized and the hack unique enough.

Yeah, but this a first submission, not an improvement. Even if the entertainement isn't maxed, there still enough decentness for the average viewer, right?

This "average viewer" will notice those missed shots, because in a game like Mega Man, they're very very noticable and missed shots look very very sloppy, even to average viewer. It's very easy to make sure you're not missing any shots with emulators. Leaving those missed shots in the run makes the run look very sloppy and it's in my opinion quite unentertaining.

The romhack is.. meh. Not the greatest ever, the graphics are not all that cool and the music is the same. But the movie is good. Even with missed shots it's fresh and entertaining. Weak yes vote

Since we are judging both ROM and run for this one, I'm going to have to say no. The hack seems to do only the following things: 1) Changed graphics 2) Changed level design 3) Changed boss weaknesses My opinions on each are: 1) The new/changed graphics are nothing exceptional. Most are just lifted from later games in the franchise, and some of the edits are just silly (changing Sniper Joes into Protoman clones, for example). The "new" boss sprites still clearly show which boss they were stolen from. There's not much in the way of real creativity here. 2) The new level designs might be above average for a hack, but they still aren't anything to write home about. There are some areas that loudly scream that this is a hack made by someone who is not a professional, such as the Wily areas that require the weapon formerly known as Crash Bombs. The fact that it shows several places where more thorough testing would have shown that the sprites flicker too much is telling. Also, the background music doesn't always fit the feel of the level it is used for. I could go on, but suffice to say I was consistently underwhelmed by the new levels. 3) The fact that there are different weaknesses doesn't really matter unless they are particularly cleverly done. I wouldn't say this change detracts from the run, but it doesn't add much, either. All in all, it's a semi-decent ROM hack, but it really doesn't do enough to differentiate itself from the original. There were a couple places where I was somewhat impressed by the level design, etc., but those were far outweighed by moments where I wasn't impressed. Add in the fact that the run is a little on the sloppy side, and this submission goes from a low meh to a medium no.

I thought it was still interesting, despite the similarities to Rockman 2. I do agree that the missed shots look sloppy. Since you can convert the movie to fm2 without desync, why not do that and modify out the missed shots? Anyway, yes vote.

In my opinion, a hack should try coming up with original music and stage creation. This rom fails in my opinion in both of these vital criterias. I am sorry but I have to vote no, but good effort though!

I had the audio desync on the mp4 when I played it on my parents' PS3. Don't know if it's just the PS3 being idiosyncratic or what, but I figured you'd want to know.

That's interesting. As I have no PS3 to test on, I can't really tell. Sorry. It could be that it doesn't like the VFR video. Does it work well on other places? Like the computer?

Didn't have a chance to test it; my computer is in Purgatory (long story) and I didn't think to test it on my parents'.

I feel that this ROM hack is too similar to MM2 and is not notable. I don't think it should be accepted.

Requesting a favor. I really enjoyed this run, and would like a copy to watch on the family PS3. As mentioned, Aktan's mp4 has the audio about half a second off from the video, and I don't have a computer to do my own encode. The PS3 also says "unsupported data" on the Archive.org streaming version. So, could someone do an encode in .avi with minimal size-reducing gimmicks for me?

Wow, it does? When I get home I can try to see why this happened.
