In this game you can play as one of many classic NES characters through the world of Super Mario Bros. 1. The game is really well done imo. Super Mario Crossover

I really liked the concept but I found only Mario and Mega Man useful. Mega Man because he's the only one who actually hits enemies and Mario because he has actual jumping distance. Still, the physics are off so I tend to keep dying with Mario (leaping over the Piranha Plants in 4-1 is impossible in this game).

The save file is kinda interesting to look at:
<smbc_save_data>331,328,72,86,27068,32,34,32,32,32,32,114,116,115,117,165,167,142,90,0</smbc_save_data>
This starts Link at Fire Power, in 4-1 with 4 lives, 27,000 Points and 18 coins. Here's the overall scheme of the save: #1 - World. 328 is World 1, 329 is World 2, 330 is World 3, 331 is World 4, 332 is World 5, 333 is World 6, 334 is World 7, 335 is World 8. If you put something invalid, the game white screens when attempting to load the level. #2 - Stage. 328 = Stage 1, 329 = Stage 2, 330 = Stage 3, 331 = Stage 4 #3 - Lives (Save file total - 68 = actual live total.) #4 - Coins (Save file total - 68 = actual coin total. 167 gives you 99 coins.) #5 - Score (Saved max seems to be 99999, which is in-game 99931. So the save file score - 68 is your actual score. However, you can go past 5 digits if you do it yourself.) #6 - Bill (32 = Small, 33 = Big, 34 = Fire) #7 - Link (32 = Small, 33 = Big, 34 = Fire) #8 - Mario (32 = Small, 33 = Big, 34 = Fire) #9 - Mega Man (32 = Small, 33 = Big, 34 = Fire) #10 - Samus (32 = Small, 33 = Big, 34 = Fire) #11 - Simon Belmont (32 = Small, 33 = Big, 34 = Fire) #12-20 - Control Scheme

Unfortunately it has the common ailment of clone games. Wrong jumping physics. Especially blatant with Megaman and Mario. Less so with Simon and Samus. By jumping physics I mean the acceleration and velocity.

Shame that Link is his Zelda 1 self rather than his Zelda 2 self, which would have been so much more fitting. Samus is easily my favorite character. The wave beam is murder.

What? The Contra guy is unstoppable once you get the spread gun. The only thing I ever had any trouble with is the rotating flame things in 1-4, but that's just because he moves much slower than Mario, as do all the other characters (other than Mario, of course). So in short: if you want the best characters for every level, use the contra guy for everything except the castle levels. Use Mario for those.

I'll file this under "Neat idea, flawed execution." Jump physics are crucial to a character's "personality" and are nearly impossible to reverse engineer. Although how anyone could screw up Megaman's so badly I don't know. And I'm with CAD: Why Zelda 1 Link? Zelda 2 Link would have melded much better with what's here.

At a guess, Zelda 1 Link is chosen because he can easily fit into 1-block-high gaps. Still, I agree it's pretty weird.

The real issue here is: can you get into the Minus World?

Found this on another forum, it was an old idea of mine, so I am glad to see it done! I found the physics to be pretty good with every character. The game is really well made with a lot of attention to detail! Wow, when you enter the pipe you get a different music from the characters' game. I had a lot of fun playing it. I think it's one of the best flash games there is. I don't think the point is for every character to be at all times useful, I think it's a neat implementation of a dream come true (seriously). You can see how would each character behave on some other character's game! I'd go as far as saying that it is fun to finish the game picking only the same character on all levels, and do it with all characters. You get a different game every time. Kudos to whoever made it, on the other forum where I found it everyone loved it. Also, what is the point of playing it as Mario?? Why would anyone choose mario?

No, since the minus world glitch worked because the warp pipes because you get to them before they are properly loaded, where in here everything in the level is loaded from the get-go. Also, even though you can hack the save file to change the levels, Anything outside of 1-1 though 8-4 just returns a white screen when the level is about to display.

I couldn't beat this game. Level 8-1 was especially hard with Simon and Bill, so I couldn't beat it. Link was very successful. I had some epic fights when there were Bullet bills and flying koopas. I jumped around and threw my boomerang. It's a very good game, but I couldn't beat it due to the wacky physics... Link's boomerang can transport coins. I love the details in this game.

How come there's no Kirby in there?

Cause Kirby doesn't fit as well as other characters in there. You'd have to add flying physics, determine which powers you're going to use for super/fire levels...eh, even as a fan, I don't think he fits that well in there.

Nonsense. Kirby would be an awesome addition to the roster.

You could just use original Kirby without power stealing, then his powered-up forms could be the curry and mint leaf.

The dude of Contra is the strongest one, I think. The physics are poorly done, but it might have been for balancing purposes, I don't know.
No.

I don't know what you guys are talking about in poor physics? It's the best physics remake of these games I've seen, better than that only the real thing.

It's Sonic in Brawl all over again.
This is only a little obsessive.

The whole save file got lengthened big time. I'm working on deciphering it, since there's lot of fun new options. There's a grand total of 85 items kept track of now in the save file. I've got 23 of them identified right now.
