Post subject: Non Glitched Speed Run?

I know all the TASin going on here wants us to go fast, but sometimes we set up these little objectives which make the video more interesting. Like clear all bosses no damage, no warping, etc etc is there a "No Abusing Glitches" run somewhere around? or is it just unthinkable not to abuse little programing errors cuz its more fun that way? Just curios ( not that I feel the need to see one right now )

We are using tags to differentiate between our TASes. http://tasvideos.org/Movies.html (movies by category) Here are the movies with the tag "forgoes time-saving glitches" http://tasvideos.org/Movies-C3055N.html Time-saving glitches can be avoided if it makes the movie more interesting or in order to allow a glitchless TAS that doesn't, for example, glitchwarp to the end. Did you have any particular game in mind?

It is difficult to determine what exactly is a glitch and what is not. Is the way you preserve movement speed in Super Mario World a glitch or just a side effect of the mechanic, just to name one of the countless examples. You can see movies here that don't use a specific glitch (many "warpless" movies come to mind), but due to the unclear boundaries of the word glitch, most "glitchless" or "low glitch" runs just don't work.

@_@ mmmm thats a good question, I guess first we need to define what a glitch is, and far you one goes till something is considered a glitch obviously mario going between blocks to go through a wall is a glitch perhaps one criteria that determines a glitch is doing something that wasnt intended to be possible by the game programmers? whatever the hell that is but then thatd mean all games are being glitched since i'm sure no one really expects any human to play as fast as a TASer can XD

I'm sure that before, there were a category called "Do not abuse any programming error" for movie like this one, but somehow this category doesn't seem to exist anymore.. Sometime a purist gamer might prefer to watch a full glitchless run where the TASer actually "play the game" than a run that just keep messing with the glitch and emulator limit.
