Post subject: Increase posts per page, or allow Google to index the forum?

Is there any way to increase the number of posts per page? It's hard to find anything in the huge threads with just 20 posts per page. Otherwise I need to make a bunch of unnecessary page requests for all 40 pages of the Rockman 2 topic. Or at least let Google index the forum.

I'm for this provided users are allowed to be able to define how many posts per page themselves.

What are you looking to find that there's an issue? phpBB has a search feature which can return the specific post you're looking for, and the main site also has a search feature for searching the forum which can find some things phpBB's can't. Allowing Google to index the forum is a bad idea. phpBB is swiss cheese and constantly being exploited, there's malicious robots running around the internet destroying phpBB sites all the time. We do not need to advertise our existence. Increasing the amount of posts per page is doable, but give a reason why it should be so.

How about this: Create special indexed pages for phpBB threads on the mainsite for the purpose of being a readonly archive for search engines. With links to the actual threads on forums (àla links to discussions on submissions). That said, I agree with the idea of unconstrained, overridable posts_per_page parameter.

That is doable to an extent.

PHPBB's search feature is worse than worthless. All it tells you is which megathread to go to for your search terms, nothing more specific than that. And too bad if you need to search for a three-letter word.

Which is why I developed and use http://tasvideos.org/Search.html . Speaking of which, someone has apparently removed the "forums" checkbox and made it always-enabled. EDIT: Oh. It appeared when I logged in. So the extra two options are only available for logged-in users.

You're doing it wrong! This: Leads to: However, you are right in some respects, this forum's search is broken a bit. Going by topics leads to this: However, the urls you follow should highlight search terms, but they don't:
<adelikat> I am annoyed at my irc statements ending up in forums & sigs
