Submission Text Full Submission Page
Simulator use: Snes9x 1.51 v7 svn147 Synchronization settings:
Use Wip1 gene time Allow Left + Right / upper + lower
This is my first attempt to play video TAS,The end of each level using the flag did not fall BUG,6-2 and 8-2 to do a wall jump,7-1 at the end of a slight slowdown,Because it makes jump to the next unit of time, to avoid pulling the flag time is 3,Put 3 fireworks are even more a waste of time

Baxter: Be sure to use the proper (U) ROM next time. Luckily this TAS still synced with it. A submission just like this (which did the warped SMB1 All-stars instead of this unwarped version) received this judgement:
Truncated: This is basically identical to Super Mario Bros. 1 for the NES, except that some tricks do not work (like erroneous warp-pointers). I see no need for such a movie, and I think the original game should be the obvious choice when TASing a game.
The votes seem to agree that this movie does not add anyhing meaningful to the site. Therefore this submission is rejected.
I would like to comment that it looks well played for the most part (one bonus room had me wondering though), so I encourage you to try your luck with some other game. You can get ideas from the forums or IRC.
The same verdict also applies to this submission. Try to share your TASing ideas on the forum next time, to get an idea how it will be received, and maybe be pointed to previous submissions that were similar in some aspects. Rejecting this for reasons stated in Truncated's quote.

It doesn't look like a troll submission, just someone who didn't read enough before submitting. (Or can you be a troll and be unaware of the fact that you are? Hmm...)

It is generally considered bad form to submit a movie for one game on a different platform than the one used for the current submission.

I doubt this will get accepted due to the ROM choice. An E ROM trained/translated into Spanish, when there exists a perfectly good U ROM dumped, unless you have a solid reason to why one should want to use the E ROM, but untrained/untranslated?. Also there is absolutely nothing entered in the submission text, not even information on how to sync the movie for replay. Not voting (for now).

Voting no on grounds of not beating the existing Super Mario Bros. 1 warpless run, playing on an inferior port, using the (E) PAL version when there is an (U) NTSC version available, using a version with pointless translation that is not even English, and lack of informative submission information.

The movie syncs perfectly with Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World (U) [!] although the checksums do not match. The sound and the graphics are superior compared to the NES version. And this site already has a SNES Lost Levels TAS although there exists an FDS version of the game (Super Mario Bros 2). (EDIT: I haven't been looking for the NES run before voting, but I think the NES run was played better. For example this run doesn't have any "koopa setups", so a "no" would have been a better idea.)

This run is actually pretty good. I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure if publication alongside the NES run is warranted. @ partyboy1a: What do you mean by "koopa setups"?

Oh, and the rerecord count is rather low. At least it's over 50...

<mugg_> Why do people think this is a troll submission? <mugg_> Sure, the title doesn't look tidy and there's no submission text <mugg_> but the movie does work and it's a good run <mugg_> Unless it was stolen from somewhere, of course <mugg_> So I think, at this rate we still need more info from the author @partyboy1a: Ah, okay. But is that possible on the SNES version?

For the record, I think the Famicom version of the Lost Levels doesn't have worlds A through D of the Super NES version. That would be a reason why the Super NES version is used for that run. As for this run, I haven't watched it yet; I'll edit in comments when I do.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
Shoutouts and thanks to mklip2001 for arguably being the nicest and most supportive person on the forums.

The reason the SNES version of Lost Levels was used is because you have to beat the game multiple times to have access to both worlds 9 and worlds A through D on the NES/Famicom versions. On the SNES version you can get it all in one playthrough. (Or something along those lines.)
I am a figment of my imagination.

A 71540 frame movie with only 1745 rerecords? Either this guy is 1337, hexedit messed the rerecord count, or the movie might not be optimized.

The sound is getting ahead of the video in your encode. Redo it.

That's YT's fault, sorry.

Wow, nice tone there.

I don't think it is. There have been a/v desync problems with your encodes for a long time and I don't see those problems with anyone else's encodes on Youtube. What kind of encoding methods are you using?

The run looks very well made. Admittedly I am no expert when it comes to Mario but if the run does sync up with the (U)(!) ROM (I watched the encode so I don't know) then I see little reason to not vote Yes. Maybe this will inspire a full game All*Stars run someday. Voted Yes.

No, it's YT's fault. I rewatched the entire raw and nothing went wrong.[/quote]

Perhaps there's something about your encodes that causes the processing YT does to make them get out of A/V sync? Clearly this isn't a problem for all of the encodes people make here...

You watched the raw recording from the emulator or your encode? I remember downloading one of your encodes with A/V desync and I remember others saying the same too. I also haven't noticed any desyncs in other people's encodes on Youtube, so there must be something wrong in your end. I encourage you to post your encoding methods (scripts, work stages etc.) on the Encoder's corner and try to look for a solution with other encoders, so that people can enjoy your encodes with no A/V desync :)
