phil i'm impressed. level 4 was done so elite, the running jump move is amazing. my complaint is about level 2 you could have played around with the beak crows why did you hit them once only? on level 3 why didnt you fully do the bike jump over the top of the screen? on level 4 why didnt you grab the extra life? you could've thrown the ice block earlier... and on level 5 you could have been closer to the swirls on the water, but you only cared to have 1 health left. and why didnt you jump over all of the logs? it seems that you are not very concerned with the show off aspect, being so fast is a great show off, but you could do it too at parts that dont require speed. i have only 1 question about speed: on level 4 on the last section, you fall from the warp plataform, go left, pass the 2 barriers and spiked shell, then you go up. on that moment the sprites below disappear, did you test if its faster to go back to the main pit to the exit back through the lower route?

I could ... but we mustn't expect that we can gain a lot of points like using the beak.

Why should we always do the full jump?

I think I have enough lives.

I could have been closer to the swirls. I'm gonna ask you the same question because in my videos, I only "miss" 2 logs and in your video, you miss 4 logs then why didnt you jump over all of the logs? Personally, I don't find it necessary to jump over all logs.

No, I haven't tested because I am pretty sure it doesn't work because the checkpoint is on the upper platform. I am waiting other people opinion.

Well, I have decided to redo stage 2. I will try to kill myself in every stage even if it costs me some frames due to being funny :P Collecting the 1-up on stage 4 and must retest something that I am unsure. And probably test what FODA said in case of even if I am sure it will fail. And being closer the swirls in stage 5. I will not do the full jump in stage 3 because I want to be original. I don't find very impressive jumping so high.

i dont think the point is to be original, it is to make the best possible battletoads video. and for someone who has never seen either jumps, a jump out of the screen is more impressive in my opinion.

Well, I think the jump is enough high. Anyway, in stage 5, I am doing this.

Sweet! I love your improvements, the ice level is amazing. I'm quite happy with the number of bird hits, it looks good. Also, your jump on the bikes is plenty high to show off, besides the jump on surfboards makes up for it. Hope you can fit in some more of those impressive level-end deaths, too. Is it possible to hit those spikes at the end of the ice cavern just as you finish the level? Anyway, very nice, keep it up.

Yes, in stage 4, I could die. I will try something in stage 2 to die in the end but I am not sure it will work.

phil i know of another move i dont know if you tested it, but it consists in doing a headbutt upwards (not up up like in jumping, just moving up on the ground) and diagonally too. i have done it before but i couldnt reproduce it, i dont know how faster it would be on level 1 to kill those pigs that get out of the wall by using it, but it might be faster.

I am not sure what you're meaning. If you mean giving a headbutt and the toads is going vertically or diagonally instead of doing it horizontally, I don't know how to do it because I haven't seen it before. If you mean, Toads is running upward or running diagonally then headbutt, that is possible but it will not help me in Stage 1.

I could check it but later :P I am doing Stage 2. Btw, if I found out how doing these things, I could easily hexedit my movie so my stage 2 isn't lost. Or, if you could try to reproduce it and record it to a movie file, it will be faster to found out.

maybe yes, maybe not. i'm having differences in mario bros 3 just because of +1 coin, even starting levels on same frame and doing same moves, the moves go out differently on each movie. (jumps higher, etc)

Yes, I am sure there will be a difference. Probably just adding or deleting one frame. The randomness seems to reset between each stage from what I have seen in this game.

I've just finished stage 4 and it's 47 frames faster. I did what FODA had suggested and it works and saved me ~30 frames and did 2 minor optimizations. Though, I lost 4 frames to die in the end of stage. In reality. I am supposed to be 51 frames faster. Want to watch it!? Same link as before.

I have just finished stage 5 and I manage to improve it by 17 frames due to some minor optimizations. From now on, I am 2597 frames faster than FODA which is a little more than 43 seconds faster at that point. To see it, http://hiddendragon.sytes.net/Battletoads%20(U).zip I am waiting comments from people.

I think this video has some interesting possibilities, especially with the way both toads work together to dispatch enemies. That, and I'm wondering just how many creative ways there are to kill Player 2 :þ

Seen at this site, http://www.classicgaming.com/battletoads/original.html#story , it said that it exists an hidden stage 13. Is it true? If so, then all current 1 player movie aren't worth to be published. Unfortunately, the link to their savestate is dead and I am too lazy to test myself. Btw FODA, apparently, he found the level 10 glitch before you.

Level 13 is the dark queen. If you die at her you get to continue at her because she is level 13. The level name and number appear on the map screen, thats all. That site could be more professional by not saying such things, i had seen it already. But yes, he found the bug before me, i talked to the guy on a battletoads community on orkut before even finding that site.

Bah, if the level 13 is the Dark Queen battle then it really sucks. Not professional like you said.

I think you need to use version 0.98.12 for those runs. It can be found on this page.
