Download the .smv file the guy posted at the bottom of page 1 and play it in Snes9x. The site here has a pretty good FAQ that explained it to me. :D

Thanks ^^ The run really isn't bad at all. As most people have pointed out, Gambit is especially impressive. I can't tell you how relieved I am that I'm not the only person to find this game difficult. Back in the day, a friend brought it over to my place because he thought I was a superior gamer, but I didn't get much further than Spiderman's initial stage either.

I am doing a TAS of this game. I have done the 3 Spiderman levels in 4 minutes (15 880 frames exactly). The final product will be quite amazing. If i ever finish it...

Congrats. The run posted here, though good, is a bit sloppy on the spiderman levels so it's no suprise you're already 5000 frames ahead ;) Are you going to post wips?

I had decided to stop TASing this and then found out a simple way to make the Juggernaut battle faster. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3898/new-Spider-Man%20and%20the%20X-Men%20in%20Arcade%27s%20Revenge%20JAYSMAD.smv

Good job jaysmad. I still couldn't find anything to speed the cyclops levels along, so those might be tedious to do :(

Hey guys, although I am not super familiar with the game (rented it twice, sucked hardcore both times, began to hate with the passion of the christ... whoops, i digress) but I, too, noticed many possible improvements for this game. If you need a theory tested or something, hit me up. Pz

Well... My only problem with this game is the water and scroller levels (Cyclops, Gambit and Storm lvls). If you find a way to skip those that would be some an amazing run. Until then, it is probably not TAS worthy but still... Its a cool game :) If you have some good tips pm me or just post it here, i'd be glad to hear you out :)

Still trying to find the perfect game for my first TAS. This seems a bit more promising than Power Punch II, which has turned out to be incredibly boring (As DarkKobold predicted), so assuming that I don't continue that, I'm going to try to make a WIP for this game. A lot of people say it's a terrible game, but it surely is nice sounding / looking, and the best possible player would look impressive, so I think this deserves a TAS. Anyone know this game and have some ideas / suggestions?

Who said this game is boring is totally wrong, the game itself is nice, got freaking nice music is VERY HARD, in somes stages like on Wolveryne stage 2 its requires a very precise timed claw to kill Juggernaut... on both Gambit stages you must go quickly as possible yet being precise on the moviments and on the card spent... I say this one deservers to be TASed since its a great title(for me) plus for its dificult... I will give a look at the game and see what I can find!
My main objective here is to TAS the most obscure games titles!

I'd rather do the SNES version because:
  1. I grew up with the SNES version.
  2. A non-glitched run is probably easier to make than a glitched one, and this would be my first TAS.
  3. The SNES version's music is much better.

Seemed competent enough, but not very interesting to watch. And why the weird route? You bypassed some of the pickups to go towards the end, then went back and grabbed them. The Genesis run did the same thing, so I assume there's some reason for it, but it just looks weird. Is all of the game structured like that level? I.e. pick up all the items and then head to the exit?

You have to pick them up in order. And no, the game varies drastically from level to level. Besides, this is just one character; the X-Men all have very different game play.

I'd like to keep you all updated on my progress, but I can't dump and upload for every bit of progress I make. As such, here is my current .smv file. In this revision, I have gotten up to Shocker in Spider-Man's first main stage and defeated him without breaking a sweat. In this level, I constantly use the "Takes damage to save time" goal, often getting hit to propel me forward / avoid fighting. Although it's much more difficult, the second level is much more entertaining. Let me know what you think!

I've always hoped this game would get TASed. And great job on the first level, there. I enjoyed it.

I had started a run of this a while ago and stopped because i could not find anything to make Cyclops and Storm levels go faster or be more entertaining. Take a look if you want http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1359&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20 By the way, i would love to see something good come out of this game. I love it!

Well, I guess I'm restarting this again...I mean, I knew my current progress wasn't optimal, but I didn't think it was THIS bad. You did a lot of things I would have never thought of, and although there are parts that I think could have been done better on your end as well, you have produced a superior run, and I have to beat you on every level to make this TAS worthwhile.

FYI, I started working on this again, and I'm doing pretty good in obsoleting jaysmad's WIP. I'll post the movie file once I beat the first level.

Beat the intro level. At this point, I am 206 frames faster than my original run, and at least 134 frames faster than jaysmad's run. Edit: Used TAS Editor to add some style changes and optimize using a web cancel. It took 3 hours, and saved 11 frames. Yay...

HERE is an improvement on my old run and Brandons new updated run. If you could improve this run by enough, then we could try and make this.
