Rocked this out. A few hundred thousand rerecords got me an optimal walking gameover run for the original Super Mario Bros.

Died three times without running.

Other comments

I could probably improve this run by running. Also, I apparently saved roughly 480 times per frame, so I could not do that too.

I'm almost certain running would make it faster. Voting No for suboptimal run.

you still use the right dpad button for almost every frames, won't work there :/
