This is pretty amazing -- a remake of the three Streets of Rage games, with high-quality remixes of the music, a massive character sheet, improved AI...the whole thing's just incredible. And finished! Apparently they sent a letter to Sega saying "Hey guys, we're working on a remake of some of your old games" and basically got a Shrug of Indifference, which is a damned sight better than Squeenix's shutdown of the Chronotrigger remake. I played it for the first time last night, and made it to the final boss on the SoR2 path (Normal, 3 lives/continue) before running out of lives. Sadly you need to beat the game to be able to purchase unlockables. :(

Thanks for the heads up. I visited their site some years ago when there was a beta, i thought they would never get it done. Nice to be proved wrong for once! The game is pretty sweet.

Is it just me or is there no obvious download link? ....ok, Google found it for me: http://www.bombergames.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1012 - and the link was removed. Some more forum searching says the download link was taken down. Bawww. Only post to a TPB torrent uploaded 40 minutes ago as of this posting has someone bawwwing saying that they're fine with corporations owning their culture. Nice that they say a Linux build will be coming - with this SEGA interruption, will this still happen? Sucks that it is closed source.

Guh. Yeah, looks like Sega took notice. Not certain what they expect to accomplish at this point since the game's done...but that still sucks.

I havent played the game but i downloaded it for the musics, they are great remix! Once it spreaded on internet its useless, they wont be able to stop it.

It seems that some game companies are quite keen to sabotage their own PR with the fan community: If a fan-made version is in development, keep quiet about it until its almost or completely finished, and only then send the cease-and-desist demands, pissing everybody off. Way to go. Given that the game was already distributed in its final form, are there any alternate sites where it can be downloaded?

Yes, some people are already hosting the file. I think it is better to wait a couple of days and see what SEGA really wants.
