I just started doing a time attack in this game. Would be intresting to watch. It's pretty fast paced and doing tricks makes you go faster. Just got 25.08 on first track doing continious rolls+twists. I screwed only one thing up and on of my rolls didn't get a twist with it. 24 something might be possible. What do you guys think? Should I try for the whole game? Going to redo the first track soon probably.

I don't know, I think that game might quickly become boring to watch. It'd have to be super duper fast to really count as "fast" in that game, since it is normally very fast anyway. :) But I will watch it if you make one, at least for the first twenty minutes.

I'd watch a video of the whole game. Go for it!

My guess is that it would get tiresome pretty fast. But that's just a guess, since i haven't seen your attempt. You do as you please, ultimately.

This is one my favorite games! It was the hardest game I had ever beaten, back when I bought it. I'd love to see a speedrun, there are some tricky shortcuts you can use. Someone who had never played the game before may not realize all those twist+rolls done back to back aren't so easy to pull off all the time though.

Ok I think I'll do this. I think I might just do the crawler tracks so it's not as long.

I'm familiar with it but never played it- but if most levels have something unique about them it might not be so bad. even if they don't, I could see it being entertaining for quite a bit however.

Would rank on my top-ten must see.

I agree with MahaTmA, this would be a definite must-see for me. There are definitely a lot of tricks and glitches that can be expoited. For example, you can fall through the track at certain points. I believe that there is a track called "long jump" or something that it's not as hard to do on (I'm pretty sure it was a "clockwise" track with laps around the 4th circuit or so, but I'd have to get my SNES down to check). When you have a half pipe in the middle of a flat track (like in the stunt track of the crawler circuit), it is possible to make a moving-jump from off of one side of the bowl to the other and to "collision glitch though" the track, dropping straight down the outside right side of the half pipe. The trick to this is the little "lips" that protrude up on the sides of the half-pipe, and possibly the timing, speed, and collision point/angle. Another thing, I'm pretty sure the unicycles are all different in more than just color. If I remember correctly, the light purple unicycle can actually do a Flip moving on flat ground, notably on the very first track. I'm not sure if this would be faster or slower than doing Roll-Twists or not, but I would guess that doing Flip half the time and Roll-Twist half of the time would give you optimal speed on that track, based on the diminishing credit given for tricks on the stunt tracks. Also, it seemed to me that the White Unicycle (the one I used to play with) does twists more quickly during a tabletop than the Orange unicycle (that my brother used to use), but that may just be misperception on my part. ... I sure did like this game...

I checked... wasn't even close with the track name... The track I mention with the fall through glitch is "Jumpover" in the Bounder section

Thought I'd chime in on this--I'd watch a Uniracers video. There is enough variety in the tracks I don't think it would get boring to watch. Also, some unsolicited help--The best trick combo I ever came up with (and pulled off) was as follows: Z Flip--Twister City--Z Flip--Roll/Flip* *The final Roll/Flip(s) can only be done on a few tracks with the biggest jumps--I just tack it on whenever I've got enough airtime to stick something else in. Because of the initial Z Flip, the Twists are performed while upside-down, which gets you either big points or lots of speed, depending on what mode you're in.

Yeah, I think the yellow one is the fastest just going along, but not so good at tricks. The orange one was always my favorite, and I hated the purple one.

Is there any place other than Gamefaqs with a records repository to use as a baseline?

/me brings this topic back from the dead I just attempted to get the best time possible on crawler, the first track. I made 2 versions, one where I get 25.08 seconds doing only twists, and the other one I get 25.11 and I do only flips (watch it frame-by-frame and you'll understand the "trick" I used) Here's the link to both movies: http://halamantariel.homeip.net/speedruns Scroll to the bottom to see them. However, the GameFaqs guide states that he did a 25.07 ... I wasn't able to beat 25.08 up to now. Anyone managed to beat that?

Well, it's not so much the density of tricks, as you have a top speed, it's how far off center you are when you finish. I was never able to beat 25.07, but I was able to match it. I didn't put too much effort into it though, because you have to beat each track three times. And to get the quickest lap times you have to let yourself fall behind Bronzen to abuse the handicap. But no matter what you do it's hard to make this game even marginally more impressive than a regular speedrun outside of the trick stages.

I remember that if you used a turbo controller, you could do a roll and twist at the same time on a flat horizontal surface like the first track, but if you try it normally you burn out. I would also really love to see a timeattack of this game, since I was totally obsessed with it back in the day.

I can do a roll twist just fine on a normal controller. All you do is let go of the twist button after finishing a twist and holding R (or L) the entire time. Besides, they already knew that you could do roll-twists.

WooT! I managed to get 25.07 while testing those roll-twists you talked about! I didn't know it was possible (thanks, by the way) so I wanted to try it a little ... By the way, I always hex-edit this movie. I don't do it with normal recording. I only record 2 consecutive roll-twists, and then I jump to my hex-editor and copy-paste those two. However, the 25.07 I got was from a bad hex-edit which didn't result in always roll-twists. What I mean is that sometimes it goes too fast and it misses the stunt. However, when I saw the ending result, I just backed that file up and posted here right away. You can download it at the same URL: http://halamantariel.homeip.net/speedruns Enjoy! (I think I'm gonna start working on this game for real now ..)

Now there was a game. I'd like to see someone master this and show it off for everyone, but mastering the physics of this game would hurt my brain. Probably... Anyone wanna try it?

I think I got 25.05 or something with just playing normally... You should hardly ever press the twist button. To do twists press back then forward. I remember being to do flip+twists which was a bit faster. you could do them with L but I think you had to do some slowing down or something right before you jumped; however, if I remember right you could do a roll + twist using the method for twisting I described above and if you landed the roll in exactly the right posistion it would credit you with a flip instead of a roll. I'm also pretty sure you can do z-flips, not sure if you can adds twists to them, or if they're faster.

As far as the best trick is concerned I believe you can do twister-city, roll-city, flip-city, z-flip-city, and tabble top in the same trick. Not sure if I ever did it but I know I was close. This is on the last jump of the stunt course for the 4th curciut, which is by far the largest jump unless there is some crazy glitch I'm not aware of. I know there's a lot of shortcuts and things you can do to save big time in this game. You can rotate your wheel up to jump higher. This allowed for a big shortcut in the hunter curcuit on I think the track was called to and fro'. Then I know there was a nice time saver on I think mega jump, it envoled not shooting high on one of the parts where the track froces you to get launched straight up and you land on a horizontal surface. I think you needed to do something like bail right before that part, and instead of getting launched up you would be put right onto the horizontal track.

For the record: I am NOT time attacking this game. I just don't have any free time anymore ... too much work to do for school.
