This one was planned before Metal Slug X,but I choose a wrong route,so I stopped this one at first. This is the longest Metal Slug because of the universe autoscoller scene. And the biggest difference between X and 3 is the smoke cannot do damage.
If you want to see another route's run.Watch this. [dead link removed] It is a run before Mission 4 that choose the main route

About Missions

Mission 1

Go up and avoid lags.Using 2 Armors to fight with boss

Mission 2

Get a C,and using zombies' blood 5 to kill the aliens.

Mission 3

Select a shorter route and using L and H fight with boss.

Mission 4

Getting fat to manipulate enemies' appearence, and Marco must wait for Fio to manipulate mosqito's movement. So there is no influence.Manipulate luck in the boss battle, get L in the left.

Mission 5

Heave luck manipulation.Getting useful bombs. Alien brain battle getting 3 L. Getting an S before the 3rd door. Last boss it can manipulate luck to get bombs. But if do that,I must stop attack to manipulate it appaar. Cannon smoke of Mehicle Slug cannot do damage to the boss.So I get out of Mehicle at first.

Summary

All of the items is determined before the enemie's appearence, and it is according to the frame and HP. So I have worked on this for a long time.

Thanks

mtvf1's lua script that can help me find the random memory address. Sonikkustar's route suggestion.
Have fun now.

Nach: Getting this to sync was a pain in the neck, but it works. Nice run of the craziest game in the series. Good response, accepting as first run for this game.
sgrunt: Well, since this is syncing for me, and no one else seems to be up to the task...

It's real I think,I'll take it into consideration. Edit:But there is a truth some people disagree. This need a discussion about it.Takahashi meijin no boukenjima on NES is the example. And Jungle Book on NES is also rejected because of the Genesis version is optimized, they are different games, but it's not enough.
Do the work.

Nach, Metal Slug X also runs on the Giga Spec hardware instead of the Max 330 Mega Pro-Gear Spec hardware. Try Mission 1 in Metal Slug 2 in real time and after the three towers mini boss the exploding wall should lag the game. Meanwhile, X does not lag there. Also, Yes due to the severe p3n on the final boss. Mission 5 is SO long but this is a great game.

I know full well, I played both games hundreds of times.

I slightly can imagine how hard it was to tas this game. There were moments where I thought to myself: "Oh I know he must have suffered a lot tasing that portion". Nevertheless, this exceeded all my expectations. Due to how entertaining and fine planning, this run deserves nothing less than a yes vote. Maybe even a star :) Congratulations my friend. I really look forward to your future Metal Slug projects.

This was absolutely amazing, such an entertaining run, as might be expected from the Metal Slug series. Great game choice, definite yes from me.

Throw another yes vote on the pile for me.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

While the TAS is excellent, there were a number of places that I found questionable. During the start of mission 4, on the second truck, doesn't R fire faster when crouching? During the first phase of mission 5, you could get 2 additional slug coptors by sacrificing the previous coptor before a certain point where it appears. Or does that require both players to be not riding a slug? Also, I can't tell if you had accounted for this, but the second boss of mission 5 will not go below 1 health (yet still give points when hit) when certain parts of its body are out of the screen. During the run, it seems that it may have occured right before it died. Have you checked for this? Finally, at the 6 brain-mech fight during the clone section in mission 5, the brain-mechs appear with less health and drop weapons (including S) if no players are in the slug when they begin to appear. It is possible to have them appear as such and ride the slug again though.

Wow, this was incredible. The beginning stages weren't as interesting as the beginning stages from some of the other games, but the game's second half is incredible. The fight against the big alien machine shooting the giant laser balls is a definite highlight. Yes vote. x2poet, at this point, you're my clear choice for Arcade TASer Of The Year, and possibly for TASer Of The Year in general! Also, thanks for the encode, ShadowWraith!
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Best Metal Slug ever. I never played Metal Slug 3 (while being familiar with 1 and 2) so everything was a big surprise for me, and I enjoyed every single moment of this. Not sure if this is star-level, but definitely moon-level (as implicit answer to Sgrunt's thread). I suggest a couple of screenshots (taken from the encode, so should be retaken): The robot playing with his robopenis As someone suggested, Fio eating while Marco is being kidnapped. One has to wonder, though, how big is the alien spaceship at the end, since they travel inside it for several minutes on their modules which seemed to be pretty fast. Thanks for the encode and for the torrent, by the way.

Mission 4,the 2nd truck cannot damage at that time, you can experience using bombs hit it,and it has no effect before the helecorp destroyed. Mission 5,2 players is different from 1.The autos would not drop bombs any more. And There would be no new air slugs except that you give up it at first. I don't know which brain-mech did you say.But I know it's not the luck. 2 players item dropping is different from 1. I made a plan when I play with 1 player, but when TASing,it's out of expectation.
Do the work.

In Stage 5, you can scroll the screen back to make the walkers instantly disappear. I'm not exactly sure how it's done, but you can see it in a few of the speedrun videos on youtube. This saves you the trouble of killing them, and should definitely be included.

YES vote of course. It's my favorite Metal Slug games, I tried to make an 1-player TAS, but I stopped at Mission 2 due to heavy pressure. I think maybe I can finish it sometime. Again, nice run. Although I think it could be more entertaining, it's good enough for a 2-player run.
Recent projects: SMB warpless TAS (2018), SMB warpless walkathon (2019), SMB something never done before (2019), Extra Mario Bros. (best ending) (2020).

The final mission is half the game. They should at least have added a mission change at the abduction.

I like the music in MISSION 4 the first scene and the MISSION5 the last scene before the boss.

The final mission was like 8 levels. Here's the parts: Air Convoy Space Flying in the mothership Rescue bad guy Go fight off the alien horde Rescue friend Escape Then of course all the bosses too: Mr. "ha ha ha, ha ha ha" The alien in a bad guy costume Mothership Queen Friend in a cocoon Queen take 2 ------------------- On top of all that, this game introduced many varied paths through the levels. Unlike the previous games, it introduced a trillion enemies coming at you all at once from all sides all the time. The boss was rarely on the same segment of game that led up to it. The bosses made no sense. Are we fighting off an enemy army or an alien one? What's with statues falling from some crashed wreckage of different aliens? What's with a flying money head? While the game is really loaded, I feel the game suffered from bad game design, they went overboard in too many areas. Four and five toned down the insanity a bit, but four had its share of ridiculousness too. Good luck beating the final boss in four without taking a hit. The weaponry that boss had was insane.

If I recall correctly, Metal Slug 3 was SNK's last hurrah, so they tried to pack as much stuff into it as possible. Perhaps too much. The last mission definitely drags on.

ms3 is my favorite game of the series manly due to the multiples roads and the crazyness... it's making the longer and you're always " seriously WTF?????? HOW ?????????" that's what you sould always yell at an awesome game. anyway this run is really good, even the autoscrollers are not *too* borring easy yes vote.

Pretty much. Was their last Metal Slug game though.

They could've been more honest about it though. Level 5 ends with killing the impostor after the convoy section. Level 6 is all the space areas until the walking part in the mothership. Level 7 is everything up to the queen. Level 8 everything after that. That'd make it only two levels longer than their other games. Or rearrange it a bit and make it 7 levels total, which would be respectable. Still doesn't help with the other insanity though. There was way too many enemies coming at you from all over all at once quickly all the time, especially during the last half of mission 5. Just to compare, first time I played Metal Slug 2, I beat the whole game on two quarters. First time through Metal Slug 3, I needed 17. Big difference.

It can save 200 frames. Only the 1st one could disappear.
