This particular ROMhack is by Phantom Renegade from The End of the Internet, previously known as LUELinks or LL, which is where "fLLare Red" comes from. The aim of this ROMhack is to make every Pokemon in Generation 3 worth using. I'm unassisting it at the moment, currently preparing to head to Mt. Moon; so far, it's a lot of fun. Unfortunately, Phantom Renegade didn't finish the postgame before starting on a sequel hack. The hack also includes a lot of risque humor, such as Professor Oak being an over-the-top pedophile. The IPS patch, as well at a MTHML single-file copy of the LUEpedia page on fLLare Red, are on my Mediafire, here; patch the IPS to Pokemon - Fire Red Version (U) (V1.0).gba with CRC32 DD88761C.

A balance hack for FRLG? Interesting. Might I suggest tackling vanilla Fire Red first before a hack of it, though?

I don't have the time, nor the patience, to do a TAS of any reasonable quality myself; I wanted to get word of this hack out for others to see.

I am personally of the opinion the unmodified game should have a TAS on the site before any hacks are. Saying that, there is nothing stopping anyone working on this.

Oh, that's what you meant. Personally, I can't see any reason to have a vanilla FR/LG run published alongside the existing Generation 1 games, unless there's suddenly a huge demand for a completely glitchless run.

The only reason a FR TAS should be allowed is to show off some of the new content in that game - the Sevii Islands and 2nd E4 battles. This would require a 60 pokemon route during the first part of the game. There's a realtime single-segment run on SDA that manages this in 5 hours, so a TAS would probably be closer to 4.

The problem with that is that, IIRC, the Generation 2 and 3 Pokemon will not spawn at all until you've completed the Sevii Islands quest and linked Bill's system with Lanette's system. The FireRed-386 hack I linked to some months ago does not have this limitation, so I'd say that a FireRed run should use that.

That could be an idea, but I again refer to my earlier belief that the vanilla game should be done first, regardless of how hacks might improve things. People want to see the games they have played be TASed, hacks are more of a niche interest.

I don't disagree, but the only change(s) in FireRed 386 are that all of the Geneneration 3 Pokemon can be caught without trading; there's no modification to the quests.

Probably the only way a gen 3 complete Pokedex TAS would ever be done is with this hack, I agree.

Yeah, but there are plenty of hacks of Gen III games out there that allow the player to catch all 386. Why this one in particular?
