That, or it's an elaborate plot to make everyone convert to a much more sensible fuel, Hydrogen. Or create Nuclear Powered Steam Trains (I'm being 100% serious here, there's a reason Nuclear Submarines are Steam Powered). Granted, you'd need a shitload of armor on that train...

In Norway, the gas price per gallon is 9 USD; over 90% is taxes. This stifles the economy, yes, but of course that doesn't matter.

Now, taxing alcohol is something I don't oppose because (recreational use of) alcohol is detrimental to economy rather than beneficial.

There must be another use of which I don't quite know. Medical, perhaps?

Alcohol has any number of uses -- it sanitizes, so it can be used as a cleanser (including for injuries, so that qualifies as a medical use). It's usable as fuel, albeit not as energy-dense a fuel as gasoline. Most gas in the USA has a 10% ethanol mix as part of our addiction to corn subsidies. You can also use it as a solvent (part of why it makes a good cleanser -- it thins out oils) and I'm sure it has tons of industrial applications. I could easily believe that in an alternate universe where cannabis is legal and alcohol isn't, people would be touting all these non-drug uses for alcohol as evidence that it should be legalized. Just like they do today with hemp.

First-World Problem: My Internet connection (or someone else's) resets and posts the same comment twice.

I don't think it's pure alcohol that's being heavily taxed, but alcoholic beverages (ie. those intended for recreational uses). So the question of what other uses those beverages might have is a valid one. Alcoholic beverages, especially certain ones (such as red wine) can actually have positive health effects when consumed with moderation. The major problem is that most people don't.

here in germany only alcoholic beverages are extra-taxed, so until the end of the 20th century some hobos and alcoholics drank spiritus used for lighting fire... nowadays they contain emetics. (so some eat paste-.-)

I got pretty drunk at a party last week, so much that people are still laughing of what I did there, I had a nasty hangover the next day and now I'm short of money because alcoholic beverages are goddamn expensive! FWP

First of all, even though it was a few pages ago,
I agree with Warp.
Next, Youtube won't show more than 50 recent videos, and has no way to mark them as "watched" without opening them and watching for a while. Aggravating. Imagine if your email inbox worked like that. Also, imperial units are annoying.

I can't find a European Phantasy Star IV ROM to load onto my Everdrive MD, and the prices on eBay are absolutely outrageous. I need to get an NTSC, PAL60, or PAL-M compatible Mega Drive.

I'll have to change that, then. Nothing like rallying interested members to gather up spare money, get a $100 copy off eBay, and then dump for the sake of preservation. To a different forum!

Another TASVideos-exclusive one: Submitting a run then having to wait five whole minutes for the topic TASVideoAgent created to show up on the main page so more people will notice it. Not a big problem, but it's a little annoying.

And in the same vein, submitting videos on YouTube and having to wait so long for them to be uploaded, and then for them to be processed, and then for them to be noticed, and then for them to be commented upon.

Another TASVideos one (this happens to me sometimes): Commenting on a submission you liked and saying "Yes vote!", then forgetting to vote Yes and continuing on with your day.

Or saying "Yes Vote", but then accidentally (I had to look up for this word in my dictionary, costs a lot of time :( ) votes "No"
