My old iMac died on the day that he resigned, and I just ordered a new one today before he passed. Sad day :(

I was watching the Arkanoid TAS and reminiscing about other Breakout clones earlier today, and now this. Now I have an excuse to stop doing work and play one of them. R.I.P.

Wow. I heard he had stepped down as CEO, but I didn't know why. I guess he was sick a long time.

I think so , with his pancreatic cancer in 2004 and his liver transplant two years ago, all this has weakened. We lost a great man who revolutionized the computer world and made life of people more easier. Thanks Steve and rest in peace.

I'll just rip my Sonic Retro post for the purposes of this thread.

Not a huge fan of what he shaped recently, but admittedly am a fan of what he helped shape historically (just like everyone else in this topic, obviously). I do admit I'm a bit surprised, I was expecting him to last until 60... I guess I overestimated a bit.

Steve Jobs could not survive the disappointment of seeing Rockin Kats in the Dream Team Contest.
"Genuine self-esteem, however, consists not of causeless feelings, but of certain knowledge about yourself. It rests on the conviction that you — by your choices, effort and actions — have made yourself into the kind of person able to deal with reality. It is the conviction — based on the evidence of your own volitional functioning — that you are fundamentally able to succeed in life and, therefore, are deserving of that success." - Onkar Ghate

Why would Steve Jobs have even heard of TASVideos? Anyway, a few days ago, I learned from a documentary about PIXAR's history that Steve financially supported the company while it was having money problems, allowing it to survive and become a hugely successful company. I respect Steve even more now. I'm sure John Lasseter and everyone at Pixar will miss him too.

I was never a fan of Apple, I even thought some of their stuff was useless and overpriced. But RIP nevertheless.

He owned Pixar for a while, and was the largest shareholder at Disney. It was also that connection that allowed him to push Pixar and Disney content onto iTunes which paved the way for other content creators to join in.

This is all a ruse to distract fanboys from the 4S Here's hoping he's kickin' it on an island with 2Pac, Biggie and MJ
I make a comic with no image files and you should read it. While there is a lower class, I am in it, and while there is a criminal element I am of it, and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free. -Eugene Debs

Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

Just counted the number of Apple computers in my tiny house right now: eleven of them. Ranging from very new to very old. Say what you want about Apple, but I'll remember Steve Jobs as the person who, with the Macintosh, caused a paradigm shift in the world of personal computing. He was the first to realize that computers should be built with regular users in mind rather than people with a degree in computer science. He worked all his life to make personal computers more accessible. He wasn't a saint, nor is the company he leaves behind exemplary in every aspect. But his contribution to the world of personal computers is nothing to underestimate.

I prefer Windows and Android. But I agree with all of this.

I have an Android phone too actually, a HTC Desire :) Apple isn't perfect and there are a lot of valid criticisms you can make about the company and the products, but I think it's interesting to look back at the developments they made, mostly starting back in the 80s, and how it impacted the whole idea of what personal computers are. Steve Jobs wasn't the only innovator, and there are lots of other people to thank for making computing accessible, but his work did mark a shift in thinking at a time when computers were still thought of as tools for scientists. It's sad he died so young. Cancer is terrible.

I'm glad you put that in bold. I would have missed the joke otherwise.
