Nope. It takes a while to LJA since you have to aim, throw the boomerang and wait a second before you can jump. It'd be way faster to just roll, or at worst, go wolf. Any huge stretches of land where it might be good if you can do double LJAs while going downhill would still not work because you wouldn't be able to do it in the first place.
Not possible. Even if you manage to pull it off the death cutscene warps you back down.
I had one idea for a LJA to save a few seconds. In the 2nd last room of forest temple, could you get an LJA off the boomerang throw to turn the bridge? You probably don't have enough time throwing it straight, but maybe throwing it at an angle could work.
Watching Parax's run reminded me how awesome TP actually is. I'm really interested in a TAS of this, I could actually imagine myself giving it a try. 2 things bothering me, thought:
1. 1/4 of the run is just collecting tears. What are the barriers for Faron and Eldin Twilight skips? A "Hyrule Castle Early" trick would skip none of the Twilight section, would it? That's why I somehow don't even want that trick to be discovered. The run would contain mostly only be collecting the tears.
2. A time of 2:40-2:30 should be possible using the power of TASing, but as Slowking said, it's 2,5 hours of pure gameplay. I can't think of any run on this site, that has this much pure gameplay in it.
Other than that, can Dolphin actually reset while TASing? This is essential for the "Back in Time" glitch and without it, I wouldn't be really keen on TASing it anymore. And if it has the reset option, does it actually work well? Majora's Mask still can't handle resets, it ends in a chaos of weird desynchs. That's why I somehow have some doubts, that dolphin can handle resets well.
Are there actually any realistic breaks left to discover at the moment? From what I have heard, TP is programmed in a pretty shitty way, that prevents many Sequence Breaks from being possible.

<AngerFist> guys, does dolphin support soft reset?
<Sonic1> AngerFist, no
<Sonic1> If you load up PSO for the first time, and it asks you if the date is correct and if you want to go back and set the time and you press yes, it breaks
<AngerFist> hmm ok. a desirable feature.
<AngerFist> hope it gets implement one day.
<DDRJake> what do you need it for?
<AngerFist> for tasing.
<Sonic1> Games require soft resets?
<AngerFist> games like twilight princess requires certain tricks to do soft reset.
<AngerFist> please allow me to show you
<Sonic1> Probably wouldn't be too hard to actually get reset working >>
<AngerFist> would be totally awesome sonic1.

<AngerFist> there, check segment one.

So dear Mr. Grunz, later Sonic1 provided this link for me: http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/issues/detail?id=1308 and there, hrydgard claims that there is now a reset option. Though I am unsure if it's soft or hard reset. If it has, please start seriously thinking of tasing this game :) skid_au apparently found a new method of savestating, which according to users works really well.
For most games soft or hard reset won't make any difference, but TP needs soft for BiT, correct?
Well let's hope this is soft. But ofcourse it would have to be recorded in the input file. And the emulator would have to continue playing the file after the reset. There is probably still quite a lot of work to be done till this actually works for tas.
I guess Grunz would need a new computer for Dolphin anyway.
BiT can use either a hard or soft reset I'm pretty sure. I used a soft reset in my run. Even if you can't use it though, BiT only saves a couple minutes. The main advantages are having the sword early for the cage opening and not having to backtrack to Ordon for the Iron Boots (which doesn't save much time when you can warp). The first two days of Ordon can still be skipped without using it.
Eldin twilight skip isn't going to happen, Faron may be feasible though. You can't skip the Faron twilight because Midna won't let you leave Faron until you've both cleared the twilight and beaten the forest temple (which I think is weird since I'd think it would only check if you beat the forest temple, but it doesn't). If you can find a way past that Midna trigger then you can skip both clearing the twilight and beating the Forest Temple (though you would still have to go in to get the boomerang). The Eldin twilight can't be skipped because you need to warp the rock from Death Mountain to Zora's Domain, and the rock won't fall until the Eldin twilight is cleared.
BiT can't work with a hard reset. It means turning power off and on again. Which means RAM is cleared.
Well faron twilight is the longer one anyway. Would be cool if there was some way around it.
can you actually enter forest temple without clearing the twilight? if so, I'd investigate this possible sequence break a lot within the next few days.

At this point in game, during a normal play, you're locked in wolf inside the twilight.
I think you can't even enter the temple, and no chance of beating the temple. (For one, wolf link can't use the boomerang).
Ah yeah. EMS ftw.
So ok if we can somehow get midna to stfu we would skip the twilight and half of forest temple. Pretty unlikely, since a lot of people tried already, but can't hurt to try again. :D
Yea it's been looked into to death already and no one's found a way to do it. It would be sweet if it were possible though. (should've been found about a year and a half ago though, if it is possible <_<)

Logitech_SDA is your guy for basically any answers you have. I also recommend watching his vids on his youtube channel because a lot of his discoveries can be quickly performed in a tas.
Don't think that will work for a tas, but is definitely a great start.
Skipping zora armor is faster than getting it, right? Is there anything else of significance that should be changed?
Well RTA should be pretty close to a TAS. But I really don't know enough about this game to know for sure. Has been years since I even played it.
What do you think won't work? I'm curious.

I recommend at least start tasing the beginning. I don't think it will hurt knowing the initial stage is solid route wise. Once you feel it's time to consult with the experts, you could briefly stop and ask away. Very curious and anxious to see your first wip, assuming you will release one.
