Something I'd love to see TAS'ed... Hero Core Hero Core should probably run fine under Hourglass, and is pretty good for TAS'ing normally. However, it has a hidden fourth difficulty level called "Reallyjoel's Dad" that's intended to be impossible. It places you in a small room surrounded by eight of the game's bosses, including the final boss, and is basically Bullet Hell. However, killing any boss will refill your health. With superhuman dodging skills, it feels like this should be possible under TAS conditions. Who's up for it?

It's been done already; nitsuja used it (both the normal game and ReallyJoel's Dad) as tests for Hourglass rather early on. :) Unfortunately I don't know that he uploaded the videos to YouTube or anything. They're probably somewhere in the main Hourglass thread.

So no mouse means no Jezzball, right? :( Other games in wishlist: Chip's Challenge (unless the DOS one is TASed instead) Jezzball (probably needs mouse) Rollercoaster Tycoon Any Mario fangames (ex: Mario Forever, Super Mario XP) Skifree (getting past the yeti :D) Rodent's Revenge

jezzball could be done on nds but its homebrew, so i dont know if it would be accepted and rct is too boring, you may build fast but then you have to wait...
How should I know what I think before I read what I post?

I didn't know there was a homebrew Jezzball for DS. I'll try it out and maybe make a topic. Thanks! I thought RCT could be fast on triple speed. Plus, two other people suggested it so I figured they knew something I didn't...

I think the Touhou series could warrant its own thread, but I'm particularly interested in the Castlevania inspired fangame Koumajou Densetsu and its sequel. There's also ElePaperAction, featured in my avatar, which could be interesting.
I like my "thank you"s in monetary form.

IF Chips Challenge is to be TASed it should be done on the DOS version as it's the original platform and nothing is gained from doing it on another platform. Also in my book the original for DOS has better graphics and music.

On my Compatibility Wishlist, it would be any game that runs on Jamul's Dr. Lunatic engine.

In order of want: Command and Conquer (Mouse, Unconfirmed) Command and Conquer: Red Alert (Mouse, Unconfirmed) Command and Conquer 4 (Mouse, Unconfirmed, Horrible Game, would have to use the server-spoof to make the movie sync*) Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2 (Mouse, Unconfirmed) Command and Conquer 3 (Mouse, Unconfirmed) Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun (Mouse, Unconfirmed) Dead to Rights (I don't think you actually need to use the mouse, Unconfirmed) Official Touhou Games (Unconfirmed) Super Marisa World (Unconfirmed) La-Mulana Bunny Must Die: Chelsea and the Seven Devils Hourglass Visual Boy Advance Re-recording (Gruefood, Unconfirmed) VVVVV (r39: not working, r71: unconfirmed; Flash game, IIRC) Eversion Amnesia (going off of Beef0wl's description, that would be awesome) Iji Iji, ReallyJoel's Dad mode Now that I think about it, is spoofing packet data during a TAS ethical (either via an external program or hand-crafted somehow via an update to hourglass)? If so, that actually could open the way for, say, a World of Warcraft TAS. It could also open the way for a Pokemon TAS that spoofs the link cable to trade a level 99 Mewtwo to the current game, so it'd take some considering. Perhaps a seperate category for packet-spoofed runs? Because if that were possible, someone might be able to do a Command and Conquer: Sole Survivor TAS. And that would be awesome, considering you can't play that game online anymore and no servers exist. @NrgSpoon Any English pages on ElePaperAction? *Note for the record that I have no clue if "packet spoofing" or "server spoofing" is the correct term. Edit: A full X-Ops TAS would also be awesome.

Realljoel's Dad mode in Iji is literally impossible; per my friendly Iji maniac, you must kill every enemy to lower a barrier* before a timer runs out**. Too bad! * Barrier does not actually lower ** Even given the above, the timer is too short to allow for killing everything and making it to the exit in time. As for packet spoofing, that'd have to be part of the input file, wouldn't it? And I don't see how you could set that up. Running a separate server program is also currently infeasible, as I understand it, since Hourglass only runs one program at a time, and besides servers probably aren't so amenable to the tricks it plays to force reproducibility, since they lack a display refresh which it can use to force a consistent framerate.

I had the suspicion Iji's Reallyjoel's Dad mode was impossible, but I was never good enough at the normal game to even unlock that mode without cheats. I'm going to start a topic about packet spoofing and TASs so as to not derail this one.

A game that would be incredibly hard to make a TAS for (but would still be possible) is NetHack. It would be interesting to make one for it, but the amount of luck manipulation would be very hard to do. And deciding what role to be or where the line is in between getting through fast and getting things for surviving. And if they wanted to, manipulate the luck to get potions of gain level or wraiths, get teleportitis, teleport control, and an easy means of level teleport and teleport to the few necessary places and beat it quickly! Also, doing some conducts would be cool too.

NetHack as in the DOS game? If so, you have a topic here, in the section about DOS games: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9771

I've always played a windows version. And now that I see that page, I think it would make more sense to make a TAS for that version then this one.

You might also be interested in reading the turn by turn description of the TAS. They've sunk way too much effort into it so far for switching platforms to make any kind of sense.

Yep, we started on the DOS version because Windows TASing wasn't possible at the time. Also, because IMO the DOS version is better. If you're willing to help make suggestions, check the topic out! But be aware of what you're getting into; NetHack is a pretty difficult game to plan routes for.

I understand why they would use the DOS version now. And when I first thought of it, I knew how hard route planning was going to be. I actually wasn't thinking of making the TAS, I was just wanting to see it get made (and I didn't know it was already).

I also was not suggesting that they change it to the windows version.

After originally thinking that even reaching the first boss in Hyper Princess Pitch's Really Joel's Mom difficulty was impossible, I managed to actually get to Mecha Santa using Hourglass. Unfortunately, for some strange reason, now the movie stops at some point before reaching Mecha Santa and I don't have the will to replay it again from there right now. Also, from what I've seen, beating Mecha Santa could take hours.

Not knowing of Hyper Princess Pitch, I was really confused about when Mecha Santa was supposed to come into play in Iji. Luckily I reread your post before making myself look like an idiot. :)

Mecha Santa shows up riding a missile pony in the super-secret Sector ZZ plural-Z Alpha.

Wait, how does that work? I thought it spawned an infinite amount of elves with homing projectiles? Can we see a movie of this, even if it only beats the first few rooms? I'm really curious.

Not an infinite amount, just a bunch of them. It would be impossible to survive even a couple of rooms without the help of Hourglass. I can upload the Hourglass WTF file if you're interested.
