Did you know that if you mix Starcraft and Warcraft you get Starwarscraft? Yup. It's true.

Eh...to lazy to PM it, and this topic hasn't gotten any better, so here is your corrected post Sheeis! How many times do I need to tell people? There is no s in "Brood War"! Don't confuse it with Star Wars; there is only ONE Brood War and that is the one that the expansion is about. Please get it right. Sorry about being anal, but I find it annoying when people add an S to the title for no reason whatsoever. There were a few other things that I was not sure about. "is no s" maybe should be replaced with "is no letter s". And "Please get it right" might need to be "Please, get it right". Regardless, it's not even important, just like adding an s to "Brood War" is not important.

I think those "errors" were only minor oversights that can only be detected by the most anal of anal grammar nazis. But I understand that you only said it because I was complaining about spelling myself. Still, there were no blatant spelling errors in that post which is more than can be said about the topic. :)

Well technically, it wasn't a spelling mistake because wars is a word. And technically, 'sheeis' is not a word. :p Btw, I'm not being serious. But yeah, you were right. No one will ever care that your first post wasn't 100% proper grammer-book english. Everyone understood what you meant. I don't care at all about mistakes like that, since no one ever writes completly proper english.

Wasn't there a version changer for warcraft 3 so you could quickly switch between versions to see replays?

Not that I know of. What you can do is install 1.00, copy certain pertinent files to another directory, and then create a batch file that will copy those files back into the WC3 directory and run the appropriate executable when you want to run that particular version. Then you can patch to 1.01, 1.02, 1.XX and each time copy the pertinent files to a subdirectory and make a new batch file. Then when you want to run any version you just need to run the correct batch file. It's a pain in the ass to do all that, however, and it wastes a good amount of space.

well to make one of the few on topic posts, I would love to see a speedrun of the starcraft campaigns, but it cant be manipulated as far as i know if you exclude cheating, obviously. So it would be more of a SDA type of run, not a tool-assisted one =p but the campaign is pretty cool, and even without the most part of the story ( between maps ) it would be nice to see

Testing has revealed that 7 computers can be beaten on The Hunters in under 10 minutes ... unfortunately I am not skilled enough to manage the attack simultaneously on seven fronts, even on slowest speed.

For the sub-10 minutes, what race are you using? What races are the other 7? Which is your starting position? Just curious. I'm not good enough to do this either. But I'd love to watch it.

Z v 7P. The strategy is as follows: Queue 5th drone. 5th drone mines. Queue 6th drone. Queue 7th drone. 6th drone goes to attack the nexus of the farthest 'toss. Queue 8th drone. 7th drone goes to attack the nexus of the next farthest 'toss. Hit 42 minerals. 1st - 5th drones go to attack the nexuses of the remaining 'toss, starting with the farthest. 8th drone mines. Queue 9th drone. 9th drone mines. This is where it gets hard. Whenever you attack a nexus with one of your drones, all of the probes belonging to that nexus will target the drone. Eventually your drone loses aggro and the probes will return to mining. Additionally, most of the time there is a probe building at the time you get all the probes of a particular nexus to target one of your drones. So you must run around all the probes with your drone, maintaining aggro, not getting hit, and also ensuring any new drones that pop out immediately acquire your drone as a target. The whole time you are doing that (times 7) you must queue an overlord and 3 more drones, mutate a spawning pool, queue 2 more drones, then 6 zerglings, then another overlord, start razing bases with the 'lings, all the while pumping more out. You can test to see that the basic strategy works, try it on just one computer. I've done it successfully on as many as 4 computers on slowest speed, but that is the limit to how fast I can jump around a large map, manage my base, and keep 4 attacking drones alive. You can time how long it would take (if there were someone skilled enough to do it) in a single player game with power overwhelming. Since your 'lings should never have to attack probes, at least in theory, you can tell your attacking drones to target the probes instead of the nexus. That way it takes the same amount of time to raze the bases, and the probes still acquire your drones as targets (and incedentally are slowly destroyed by the invincible drones). I do not claim my build order is absolutely optimal, but it is fast enough that no 'toss will get out more than a pylon, and the game is over in under 10 minutes.

At first I was excited to see that there were so many post for this topic, but.... Anyways, I think a 'time attack' of this game would be extremely interesting. The 7 bases with drone harassment is a good idea and be cool to watch, but there are other options. The biggest problem with making of a vid of this game would be deciding what exactly to make the video of? The last level would be interesting, or one of those built in use map settings maps (under scenario or something). The next problem is that although the game supports recording and saving/resuming(rerecording). It has to be battle.net online game? Well this can be hacked so that its not the case. Also it could be hacked to run at extremely slow speeds as well. Beating some scenario extremely fast would be really cool, the perfect mix of strategy/planning and extreme micro management to pull off impossible battles. I haven't thought much about it yet, but I will be.
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

I remember doing the campaigns after playing multiplayer for a time...it suddenly become much easier. I like to overwhelm an opponent with shooting units (especially in the non-expansion version). Armies of marines/hydras/dragoons will waste any computer opponent in the missions. Sometimes flying units are better though, but all one unit is usually most efficient.

It doesn't have to be a Battle.net online game to be recorded, it just has to be a multiplayer game. I know because over half of my recordings are from LAN games. (To be precise, I mean that it has to be created from the Multiplayer menus.) So, if saving works in Multiplayer and you can save full recordings of the game afterwards, I guess Starcraft can be somewhat "tool-assisted." It'd be neat to see. :)

even so, i bet the top 50 players would play better than me tool assisted playing it, so you'd better get an excellent starcraft player to help out

There are no difficulty levels in Starcraft, so that's not an issue.

Hhehe...I am excellent :P. And this is the first time i seen this thread :\.. Anyway.. Seeing a Z V 7P would be ah.. boring if you drone the nexus's.. I would love to see a Zerg player using Plague and Ensnare along with Hydra's/Guards to own the Protoss. And see alot of Lurk drops/Ling rushes etc.. Something to show Alot of different strats to totally demolish a Protoss player, and show every zerg unit's powers put to the max. Another cool Movie would be a 1v1v1 on BGH (So minerals dont run out) One be Zerg, One be Terran, One be Protoss. Them have them all attack each other showing strats to own the opponent and also how to stop such an attack. But the Terran would have to win, Since the best player in the world uses terran. Here are some cool strats i use when ever i play. Zerg: 1. Quick gas, then some creeps. Make a pool, upgrade to sunks. get a lair, queens nest, more gas. Hive/Quards = GG. 2. Mass out Defilers and Uped Hydra's / Lurks. 3. Queens/Ultralisk/Scurges. Terran: 1. Marines/Medic with Vessel. 2. Tank/Goliath drops with front defence (or CC defence if done correct) 3. Vulture mines all around, then cloak wraiths. Protoss: Quick Zeals, Moving to Goons/Stormers/DT's. 2. Cannons-Arbitors-Recall drops. 3. Cannons-Carriers-Arbitor If the replays worked correctly for UMS maps... I would love to see a :NORMANDY INVASION: time attack done.
