Truncated: This movie is not played well enough. It has also been stated before (see verdict on #1711: max12187566's NES Snow Bros. in 13:27.92) that we will not publish a warp version. Rejected.

Please reread the previous discussion to see why this one probably will not be published either. As for the actual gameplay, there are a lot of missed shots (as a result of auto-fire perhaps), along with some inoptimal movements. And the score tallying screen for the warps lasts a looong time. Voting no.

After having watched just the first few levels, I can already say that this is not very optimized, unfortunately. As mmbossman said, there are plenty of missed shots, you don't use the optimal strategy for the levels, and overall there are inoptimal movements. Even if a warp-run would obsolete the published run, you should use 2 players and make sure that all levels are played at least as fast as in the published run. As it is now, you seem to lose time on almost every level. Sorry, I'm voting "no".

I'm voting "no". too. This is NOT FASTEST speedrun.

Snow Bros. is one of my all-time favorite arcade games. Despite the vote results, this run is good. It's not going to be accepted, though. This run is faster because you skip 12 levels, but skipping the levels is boring! You really have to play the whole game. If you can produce a fully optimized one player run that's faster than the two player run, it would stand a chance, but I urge you not to bother. As a person who put way too many quarters into this machine, it's a bit painful to watch the NES version. The graphics and enemies are ugly by comparison. I really urge you to TAS the Genesis version instead, which has vastly superior graphics. The Genesis version is about as close as it gets to reproducing the appearance of the arcade game. If you TAS the Genesis version, you also have the advantage of not having to obsolete an existing run. If you put the time and effort into making a Genesis run that has no visible mistakes or lack of optimization, I'll vote Yes to it. This game deserves more respect than it probably gets. Get a friend and play this game on an arcade cabinet or MAME and you'll have a fun-filled hour of high fives and profanity. You chose the right game, but the wrong course and the wrong platform.

If it's the same game, then it doesn't matter if it's on a different platform. A run of the Genesis version will still be compared to the run made on the NES version.

Yes, but you're not going to see cross-system obsoletions. Also, cross-platform comparisons are rarely made because the games usually have various differences. SMAS SMB has a few differences to the NES version (specifically brick physics)...

... Didn't I see a cross-system obsoletion when Wonderboy for the SMS obsoleted Hudson's Adventure Island for the NES? Edit: Wait, I'm confused, what's the difference between cross-system and cross-platform?

Nothing, but I think the point is that the Wonderboy/ Adventure Island obsoletion was the first of it's kind for a reason. If the gameplay of a game varies from platform to platform, a deserving run would be published for each system. It was judged in the WB/AI case that there was not enough gameplay changes to necessitate two different runs. That being said, I haven't played Snow Bros. on either system, but given that the current movie has an entertainment rating of 3.6, it's doubtful that another run for a different system would receive much support.

Oh, okay. It's just that the submission text for Wonderboy mentioned a precedent, I guess it was meant that the game sets the precedent.
