I found this interesting emulator yesterday: http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?t=40311&page=12 It's a modification of the 1964 emulator that allows GoldenEye and Perfect Dark (and some other games too, apparently) to run at 60 FPS. Would be cool to see all N64 TASes run at 60 FPS. Many N64 games have such a low framerate. OoT for example only runs at 20 FPS. It would be easier to make the TASes too if the games ran smoother.

I believe that would go against the basic TAS rule that a game must be unchanged.

Being against the rules doesn't stop anyone from making a run for fun. Personally i've been kinda hoping to someday TAS in 60 FPS cause lag usually make certain moves impossible and makes the run less interresting(I guess a perfect example here is the "lookdown" technique used in GE to reduce lag). So yeah, i'd at least want to see what a 60 FPS TAS looks like.

Another version of 1964 has been released which now runs other games at 60 FPS (earlier I think it only ran Goldeneye and Perfect Dark at 60 FPS): http://www.retrocopy.com/forumthread/414-1/1964-ultrafast---60fps-n64-emulator.aspx For games that have an FPS cap, like Ocarina of time (20 FPS limit) you won't see any difference, and most N64 games have such a limit. Games that run 60 FPS are for example Pilotwings 64 and F1 Racing Championship. F1 Racing Championship probably only runs at 50 FPS though, because I think it was only released in Europe. You have to use the overclock menu to get the FPS gain. -- By the way, the "N64 emulators" subforum might be a better place for this thread. Or is that forum mostly for TAS emulators like Mupen 64?
