So I'm a huge Ranma 1/2 fan (One of my favorite anime of all time) and decided to work on TAS'ing this (Title translates to Treasure of the Red Cat Gang btw.) Thing is before I really get started 100% on this I think it'd be appropriate to make a thread about this game before I try to submit anything. (Which is probably a good idea.) There's a couple things I especially need help with, one mainly being finding the RAM addresses for how much damage is dealt and how much health the opponents have. (If I find the addresses on my own though I'll just post them here for future reference.) Also I really don't want to do this TAS alone but I doubt that people will be interested enough to help out with TAS'ing this game early on. (Though I could just be pessimistic.) Oh and before I forget the game originally was only released in Japan but there's a couple English patches for it. (One that follows the anime and one that follows the manga.) So I'm wondering if doing this TAS on one of these patches would be allowed, if not then I have no problem doing this on a clean, Japanese language rom. (Using one of these patches makes the battle screen a bit glitchy graphically but only where your health/options etc are, there's no problem with the patch otherwise from what I've seen.) Well I hope that people are somewhat interested in this and that I can be welcomed into this community.

There are some codes here: http://shrines.rpgclassics.com/snes/ranma/par.shtml I was looking for some codes in the RAM, though most of them where covered there right now, except for Enemies data: 7E1ECC XX 1e Current Hp 7E1ECF XX 1e Total Hp 7E1F19 XX 2e Current Hp 7E1F1C XX 2e Total Hp 7E1F66 XX 3e Current Hp 7E1F69 XX 3e Total Hp 7E1FB3 XX 4e Current Hp 7E1FB6 XX 4e Total Hp Edit: I uploaded the codes at my page: Ranma ½ - Akanekodan no Hihou

Thank you for these, this'll save a bit of time looking through the RAM. Still don't have any info if the english patches are allowed though so I don't really want to get started until I know. EDIT: here's a picture showing what the graphics glitch does. Nothing that big but it's not exactly pretty to look at, this is the only thing the english patches do though, all other text boxes don't have this problem.

Fan translations are not allowed, although I'm sure if you took extra time to make sure your movie synced on both the (J) [!] ROM and a fan translation, nobody would complain.

There was a discussion long time ago About the rule regarding usage of fan translations and as boct1584 mentions, using patches are usually not allowed (there has been exception on some hacks). I'm just playing this game & if you set the dialog speed to the fastest, you wouldn't really have time to read, so it doesn't matter much if is in Japanese or not.

Alright, so fan translations aren't generally allowed, so I'll just do the TAS on a clean (J) rom. If it ends up syncing correctly on a translated rom then that's good but I'll still submit it as a clean rom but upload the translated version onto youtube. If it doesn't then oh well.
