Mario has work a lot, and have earn so money that he can't take any piece now. Just kidding it is just a run with no piece taken, for the fun! I've first have the idea of this because it's the only way to finish mario that I have never seen before. So I've think that it could be maked.

DarkKobold: Judging.

DarkKobold: Hi and welcome to TASvideos.org. Your run is not really up to our standards. You do not use all the known tricks. Additionally, Super Mario Bros. is rather played out, and pretty much every doable category has been done. I'd suggest choosing a different game if you plan to submit in the future. To prevent this category from being submitted again, I'm rejecting on goal choice.

I don't know if we really need a maximum coins branch of SMB on TASVideos. Since we've rejected my lowest score TAS, I guess maximum coins doesn't stand a chance, unless it's extremely powerful and entertaining.
I thought TASes are done for the art rather than for the recognition.

Recognition is still nice.

Hey, your TAS is good but to be published you have to beat the current published run. You didn't use flagpole glitch. You can walk through a pipe in 1-2. You can jump on bullet near flagpole in 8-2 to do flagpole glitch.

The biggest downer when talking about branches of runs for this game is that there's just so little that changes, especially when you're talking about "lowest" anything. The current fastest run is already basically a minimalist run, so a low coin collection is going to be mostly the same input, isn't it? Just some clever goomba jumping on 8-1 stands out. I support the notion of a maximum coin collection run, although whether or not it was worthy of publication will have to be seen. HappyLee points out that coins respawn when you die, but if the primary goal was speed, with maximum coins secondary to that, then dying is off the table, I think. Point is, if you want to add a new branch of a game to the list of published TASes, it seems the gameplay should be significantly different AND interesting. "No coins" is definitely not the former and may or may not be the latter. "Minimum score" is different but not very exciting. Max coins might be both, though... hard to say.

It cannot be like that; it has to be the other way around. If it were like that then the run would have to be as fast as the current "any%" record, while collecting as many coins as possible in that time (which would make the runs almost, if not completely, identical). A "maximum coins" run would have to have the collecting of coins as primary goal and doing it as fast as possible as the secondary goal. A "no-deaths" rule is mandatory for the run to make sense.

Talking about differences, a "maximum coins" run would be a lot like the warpless run, especially after world 4. And I think levels such like 2-3 and 7-3 world be exactly the same.
Recent projects: SMB warpless TAS (2018), SMB warpless walkathon (2019), SMB something never done before (2019), Extra Mario Bros. (best ending) (2020).

Semantics are an awful necessity in our world; it's clear what I meant, but by the letter of the law you are correct. At any rate, the spirit of the run should be easily identified, whatever the rules. The ones you've stated are fine.

You can see, though, how some levels being the same as warpless is still more different than this run was, right? We may see some overlap, but it would entail more change than most runs. I'm a little surprised the goal choice doesn't appeal to you, HappyLee, seeing as you've always had an affinity for any runs SMB. Guess that's your call, of course.

You have convinced me that this might be a interesting run. But there's still some doubt that kept me hesitated about it: 1. Extremely high difficulty and it would take months (maybe years for me) to finish; 2. Less meaningful, doesn't prove anything or achieve something considered impossible to most of the people; 3. Less creative goal, more like a "show off"; 4. I'm not that interested in collecting coins, although I would collect as much coins as possible in my warpless run for entertainment. Coins are still very cheap and useless to me. Mars seems to love to see a TAS like this. I think I'll make a DEMO for world 1 or something while I'm free. I've got too busy working on my own science project these days.

You don't have to make it all at once. TAS the first few levels, post a WIP and ask how many people would vote yes on a full run. Then you can decide if you want to continue.

To test strategies it may require more helpers. But only a few people know the engine as perfect as HappyLee.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

I'm not saying I'll go for the run at once. I'll probably make a DEMO chosing the fastest route for ones who want to have a try. I have other TAS projects, most recently, Hard Relay Mario.

You probably don't need it rubbed in much further but I voted 'no'. The goal of the run is new, but it's not interesting. This site has a policy of rejecting runs with "arbitrary" conditions to gameplay, and this almost certainly qualifies. Beyond that, it seems like you either ignored or weren't aware of the many time-saving tricks in SMB. A good resource to start with is here: http://tasvideos.org/GameResources/NES/SuperMarioBros.html I doubt this category will ever get a published run, but it's an okay start for your TASing. If you practice and do some research, you might be able to get a publication in another game. I don't recommend trying for SMB, though, as this game already has so many people TASing it and trying to squeeze every frame out of it. Good luck in the future, I hope this doesn't discourage you! Learn from your mistakes!

The new run I made beats Mushroom's run PRETTY HARD. Anyway it's not a good place to talk about it, I'll probably release a WIP after finishing 1-4.

I thought mushroom's run was a playaround. Also, isn't that game a bad choice?
